protein bars - my experience, for what it's worth

I find Atkins bars and Shaklee Protein bars very helpful for business travel. They are low-carb, low-fat and low-calorie. They are full of Fiber. They keep blood sugar stable and control cravings. I use them during long flights of eight hours or more. Of course, I prefer real food, but with business travel, it is not always convenient. Downside of protein bars: flatulence. But they do control my hunger. I commute every other week between Europe and the US for work (one of the reasons I gained weight). Protein Bars have truly helped.

I also know exactly the amount of my sodium intake.

I cannot advocate protein bars for everyday use over real food. But I consider them superior to high-fat, high-sugar, high-carb processed food when on the road.

For Breakfast in hotel buffets: I eat boiled eggs, smoked salmon and cheese.
