Need help with GOOD protein recipes!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is the first day of my 30 day pre-op diet and I decided to make a Protein Shake that was given to me as a sample before I go buy in bulk... I did NOT like it... in fact, COULDN'T finish it!

I would LOVE if anyone could give me some GOOD Protein shake ideas that I will be able to enjoy or these 30 days are going to be MISERABLE for me! :(

I was thinking about buying something that's tasteless but what would I blend it with to make it tasteful???

Ideas??? Anything would be a big help! Please and thank you!

I drink the low carb Slim Fast creamy chocolate. It has 20 grams of Protein and like a few grams of sugar. Try that. I tolerate that pretty well. I not much for liking protein either.

Where do you get those?

How long does it take you to drink a cup of Water?

What do you mix them with? I tried Bariatric Advantage where you only add Water -- the chocolate -- it was nasty. :/

I mix with Water. Been using them for my pre op. I tried Bariatric fusion but the Protein taste is strong to me.

I like the Muscle Milk- I use the vanilla 2 scoops with 16 oz 1% milk 1 pack of orange crush drink mix and ice- tastes like a push-up pop and keeps me full.

I also have mixed the 2 scoops 16 oz 1% milk, instant coffee and ice- makes a good frape

The powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Protein is good mixed with chicken broth

Look on mybariatricpantry.com You can order sample paks and decide what you like best. My surgeon sells Bariatric Advantage and I use the vanilla. I haven't tried the chocolate. I really like chocolate truffle and fuzzy navel from Syntrax. I order a sample of other syntrax flavors, but so far have not found one I like. I mix mine with unsweet almond milk or Water. I didn't mind the thickness before surgery, but I really hate thick shakes now! It's basically just trial and error until you find what you like. Plus I found what you like before surgery may not be what you like after surgery! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
