I am so excited to get rid of this band. This morning as I was trying to get my scrambled eggs down while trying not to get sick or burp my way through them (because I was sitting at a table with my coworkers), all I could think of is ONE MONTH!

May 2nd is the day! Oh how I wish I would have researched more when I had my original surgery. It's ok though because this thing is coming out and being replaced with RNY. Yay!

It's weird though. I'm still having doubts about whether or not I should have asked about the duodenal switch. I don't believe my surgeon performs that though. I've just been reading so much about it.

Anyone else having any doubts about their chosen procedure over another?

Nope not I, after the hell of two bands this was the golden ticket for me....I had a coworker with duodenal switch and she either had a bad surgeon or just rotten luck. She ended up on TPN feedings off and on for a very very long time. Not to mention she had other issues that were over looked during a psych eval. The RNY has been the gold standard of WLS . The surgeons are performing different malabsorbtive techniques with RNY now as to not have the horrific complications of malnutrition and Vit deficiencies. Still there are risks with any major surgery, you have to feel you have chosen the right procedure for you. Watch out for the "mills" many WLS MD's are doing the surgery then only see you for one year. If you needed a revision or had an issue you are SOL with those MD's . Researching these surgeries is very educational. I for one researched the heck out of the band and I ended up here with RNY and wished I chose it first.......

No regrets here.... I am 110% satisfied and I would do it again in a second.

Had my surgey done 1/29 2013 ! Starting weight 348 as of 4/1/2013 my weight is 299 ! Best decision i ever made !

Lost more in the last 2 months then i ever did in six years with my band !

Whats the difference between RNY and the duodenal switch ?
