How do I get rid of this yucky taste???

I have been watching my carbs and eating a lot of Protein. I can not stand the taste in my mouth from the protein. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of it. Any natural remedies or anything besides eating carbs. I know when I am post op and have to stay on the Protein shakes it will be every worse and drive me nuts. I brush my teeth, eat sf mints, nothing seems to help. Please help before I end up in the looney bin.

Thanks

What you have is ketosis breath, its wonderful to be in ketosis. That is when your body starts using your stored fat to burn the calories/energy.

I'm here to tell you, nothing you can do will take the nasty taste out, unless you go out of ketosis (eat more carbs). However, I've noticed it usually only last about 4 to 6 weeks, then it gets better. Here is an article about it:

I never experienced the taste you are talking about, but have you tried the listerine pocket spray? I find it is pretty powerful Also Dentyne Ice - I think the Arctic Chill - comes in black packaging... It is pretty intense gum and works for the bad breath/tastes I get after eating some foods.

Wendyjoy, I'm WITH ya! It's so gross!

I also find that since I've not chewed or really bitten much of anything lately, I continuously get a film on my teeth. Yessssss, of course I brush. (Dad asked me if I was! lol).

Guess it's the price we have to pay!!:rolleyes
