Quick weight gain question

Recommended Posts

I know weird subject title but I was 330 lb at start and now 7 months ish post op I need to stop losing weight. I am down to 170 and starting to get a gaunt appearance. I just need some help with ways to level off. I am eatting as regularly as I can. As a flight medic I can't always eat every few hours but it still seems to be melting away. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know what u did to level off. I know this is a difficult subject to post since most people here, me included wanted nothing more than to lose weight but my concern of losing too much is quickly being realized. I have tried I decrease my workouts focusing more on weights and less on cardio. I am getting 90g-100g Protein per day. Anyway thanks for any advice.

Have you tried increasing your calorie intake? You could also contact your nutritionist and see what tips they have for you.

My nutritionist was as dr house would say "an idiot." I taught more about malabsorption surgery to the group than she knew. I am eatting fairly frequently and have increased my caloric intake. I even eat a few garbage items because I need the calories. /shrug little frustrating to swing the other way

Congratulations on your awesome loss! Is there anyone else you could see? Maybe someone in endocrinology? A different nutritionist? Are you tracking your calorie intake to see more or less what you're getting? (I know, lots of questions, no actual answers --Sorry!)

They say at some point. People tend to look a little sickly before they balance off so just wait for your body to plateau and make sure you getting all the Protein Vitamins and nutrients you need to keep healthy inside. Your body will know when it's time to slow it down who knows maybe have another 20 pounds left but just keep the Nutrition Facts on key by maintaining a healthy diet you'll be great

My suggestion is to focus on regaining muscle. I am trying to get into the police academy and working real hard at gaining the muscle I lost. I focus on Protein to help build that muscle. Muscle in my option give people a healthy look. You don't look starved you look healthy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
