March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Wednesday and came home from the hospital today. The pain is not too bad' date=' just soreness on the upper left side incision. Lots of gurgling and gas. So glad to finally move over to the losers bench![/quote']

That left side pain is a butt kicker. Mine felt much better after the 3rd or 4th day. Welcome to the losers bench! I wish you a speedy recovery :)

My pain is on the right side, had a hernia to repair while they were In there so assuming that's why they went in through the right! Best wishes and hopes of a speedy recovery!!

Three more days and I can bend over and use my stomach muscles. Lol it isn't getting here fast enough. And ready to see the doc on the 9th next month. Ready to take the binder off. It's highly annoying. Doing good so far. :)

I keep hearing all of you talk about your abdominal binders. I am an OB nurse and I know what they are because a lot of our moms wear them after c-sections. I wonder why my surgeon never suggested that I wear one...hmmm...I think it would have helped me.

I didn't have a binder thingy either.. Just my skin and incisions!!! Bad news, my dad is in the ICU, apparently he has a tear in his aorta, and they say operating is too dangerous... But leaving it to heal could also kill him if his Bp is too high.. I'm a nervous wreck and the first thing that came to mind was a big bowl of ice cream!! It finally dawned on me that I had indeed used food for comfort in the past! So instead, I just held my husband and kids and let the tears and emotions flow... Please, those who believe in the power of prayer, pray for my dad to recover from this and be back to his old self soon! Thank You All!!! May God bless you !

I will ask for strength and healing for your father in my prayers today, and also for your and your family. I am so proud of you as you should be of yourself for dealing with that stress in a healthy way. Please keep us updated. I will be thinking about you.

Yay, finally found the March post op group. How is everyone doing?

I am so happy the weight is falling off, at just over half a pound a day, which is not that fast but it is amazing and so easy. And think I'll be happy with this speed.

I am trying to keep active and eat properly, and all that. And it's been amazing.

Today is the first day I see my friends after my surgery. FYI I have only told 2 of them. So I am assuming that a lot of them do know, just have not said anything. So we will see what happens in the afternoon.

This operation has been worth every ounce of weight I have lost. And would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about losing weight, and has battled for years.

Asking for special healing for you daddy. This weeks means so much for so many. 9years ago God called my 16 year old son

home to help him server in heaven. 3 years after that God decided that my father needed to be with the rest of the family.(our only living parent)

This time of year always brings brightness and heartache all in the same emotion. April first was when I had to all of his friends. That was so long agoo now I look forward to seeing all of his friends and seeing how they all habe grown-up.

I guess my point is no matter what happens ever. Everyone we know and care for are always with us and are only a thought away and my thoughts arw with you and your father.

Going home today. Hasnt been easy I pray for the first person who says I took the easy way out. I'll say ya right so why don't your take the easy way also. Dry heaves hurts really bad. Needed more fluids by iv also some potassium. Stomach sore and bloated but not taking pain pills due to the nausea . Just hope things do get better soon.

Not a happy camper yet.

Drucella, I'm almost 4weeks out and feel the same way. I'm in so much pain, so nauseated and can't even think about putting anything in my body but Water. Today I tried to eat twice and threw up both times. I'm definitely in the buyers remorse phase and can't seem to get out of it. I have lost 35 pounds but I have to wonder at what expense to my body and health since Protein has been impossible to get in me. Sorry just had to vent-- hoping it will get better each day.

Hoping you feel better too!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
