March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering on average how long it has taken everyone to have their first bowel movement after surgery?

I had my first bm day after surg...it was pretty watery but it counts!

Well it is just a UTI from the catheter. Antibiotics and something to help the pain and I am good to go. Lol easier said then done right at the moment.

Sooo .... I've poop'd 3lbs of junk and its still coming. I'm so surprised that the magnesium citrate doesn't have my tummy cramping and my Ass raw. I still haven't packed my bags and my surgery is in 10 hours.

My honey wants to get grown and sexy with me and bump and grind for the last time for a week or two but I'm absolutely afraid that I'll give him a gift that keeps on giving.... The runs!!!

Packing for my surgery right now.. just drunk my magnesium citrate. It didn't taste too bad until the last gulp and I almost vomited it all back up. Whew!

The Dr's office just called and changed my surgery from noon to 6am so now I'm trying to rethink my game plan but at least I don't have to go all day hungry.

Other then this.. just waiting for the "shits" to come on. My stomach has already started bubbling. LOL

*Surgery Scheduled 3/21/13*

Best of luck! :)

Cranialmalady thx for the encouragement. The diarrhea continues. I'm getting in enough Fluid but still working on Protein. The constant up & down to the toilet is exhausting & I'm not sleeping great. But I was able to walk around my parking lot today' date=' & even put my own socks on! I'm happy for all those doing so well. It gives me hope that I can get better.[/quote']

Bless your heart Gibby, I am in the same boat with pain etc. feeling better everyday but would love to be where most of the others are with the same surgery date. Very happy or those who are able to walk and eat last normally. Hang in there and I am always here for a good old fashion vent session!

Ok good...my incisions look really good and healthy. I've been kinda coating the area since surgery with neosporin to stop itching and to hopefully help with scarring. I figured the glue was going to come off eventually but I wasn't sure how I'm suppose to deal with it...it's my belly button incision and the one to the left of that. Both look good' date=' but I don't want to "encourage" the glue to come off...where can I get steri strips?[/quote']

I was going to ask if it was ok to use Neosporin...did your doc say it was ok?

My doctor put me on zofran' date=' use as needed. You just stick it under you tongue and it dissolves. Call your surgeons office tomorrow, see if they can call it into your pharmacy, it works really well. Good for us post opers![/quote']

My doctor have me a patch that goes behind your ear for nausea. Check on that...it's one less pill you have to take!

Back to the hospital I go. The urinary pain and the darkness has the surgeon worried. He wants the urine tested.

Pixie dust to Janel! How long to first BM? I'd laugh but it hurts. RNY 3/11 and I've had no BM' date=' just completely liquid explosive diarrhea, 5-10 times a day. I feel like the bottle of liquid colace my doctor sent me home with is mocking me![/quote']

Yeah it was pretty bad! Lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
