Off meds and WIDE AWAKE

Recommended Posts

I decided I would try the night with no pain meds. I'm in very little pain and can go all day without so why not right? WIDE AWAKE! You'd think I was on crack or something, can't sit still, can't lay still, RLS, tossing and turning and not once falling asleep! Ugggh

I had the same issue. I took Benadryl for like 3 days after I got off pain meds just to help me sleep then I quit that. Now I sleep fine at night.

My husband cannot take narcotics because the detox ALWAYS makes him wired for days afterwards - NEVER heard of fat keeping anyone awake

I'm totally wired! I stopped all caffeine and soda back in November! I did crash and take a nice 2 hour nap today, so that just made me wired again for tonight! Sure hope the Benadryl works! Maybe I have the same prob coming off loratab- wires me up.

I crushed 3 Benadryl one night lol. My friend at work was like how are you functioning... I guess it was me trying to come off the Loritab.

Good luck to you tonight.

How come you have to crush? I was told it smaller then an m&m or the size of a tylonal it would be ok to take whole.

I guess every doctor is different. I was told crush all meds until 6 weeks.

you should only take the pain meds when you can not take the pain any longer or you may end up constipated.

Yep been off the loratab since earlier this week- just can't sleep now I'm so wired! So taking some Benadryl in hopes it brings me down and I can sleep!

Umn bad idea for the pain med only when you can't take it any longer, you need to be comfortable while recovering. Waiting until your in pain to take the meds umn no no. I'm a registered nurse and people wait to long to take meds then can't control there pain and come in to ER, trust me I know I work in a ER.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
