Recommended Posts

We're going out with friends tonight to Joes Crab Shack to Celebrate my husbands birthday. This is my first time out to eat with people since surgery 5 weeks ago. What experiences have others had while eating out? Any restaurant recommendations or

did you pull the menu off their website? would you be ok with having an appetizer as dinner?

are you looking to see what you can eat or how you can mask not eating...just curious.

Neither, being a seafood restaurant they had some good options (I did pull the menu off first) but I was just curious about other people's restaurant experience :)

I know its bad at 3 months out but i do best at Italian restaurants, soul food restaurants. I also do good with some Mexican foods like the fajitas and queso dip.

I honestly have bad experience with outside food. I can say I didn't have a problem with taco bell the small nachos with meat. I'm afraid of eating it again simply cuz one day everything the next it won't agree with me. I can't eat Chinese food anymore. Sometimes a slice of pizza I can deal with other times I can't. I have to really want it. Also your new with your pouch. I'm almost 8 months. Boy have I learn my lesson.

Good luck and don't have fried food.

What about sharing with your husband or getting a take out to have several meals?

I actually enjoy going to Hooter's with my BF 'cause they have crab legs. We shared an order & I let him have all the butter. Lol They are perfect as is & high in Protein. There's also a place nearby that has 50 cent boiled shrimp on Thursdays. There is no minimum number to order so I can order 4-5 without it being a big deal.

I eat out a good bit. Whatever you order try to Mae sure you can doggie bag it. I feed off of it for a few meals or hubby/doggies get it. We can live normal lives.

I'm 8 weeks out and luckily if my husband wants to go out to eat I've been able to talk him into going somewhere that has crab legs... they have become my go to and typically he will just add them to his order... they take awhile to eat so it's also good to slow my eating down.

I agree 100% with you about the crab legs. They're steamed and if you don't use the butter it's very low fat and delicious!

I have the hook up with my local Chinese restaurant I always ate there preop so they know me when I go in I get a to go plate from the buffet and eat what I can with my family there and eat on the rest for about a week also KFC side dish bowls are only 4 oz which is what is recommended after surgery so they ate great for freezing leftovers and microwaving at a later date glad also sales 4 oz bowls just some "food" for thought

Yes it does. WLS changes everything, I notice my entire life change. Physically emotionally everything. I would sleep almost all day before(I did my chores & cook) but I was pretty lazy. I can be up all day doing chores cooking laundry & I have so much energy. My appearance is so important now. I make sure I look & feel good before I leave the house. My hair is a mess cuz since WLS my hair got thin & brushing hurts & my hair keeps falling off. Summer time will be different :) I make sure I feed everyone before me. I did before but I can wait to eat now. I don't need the plate full to the top twice to say I'm full. Sex is awesome. Walking around is cool. I'm not like damn 5 blocks let me drive. I don't mind walking at all. Sex when I'm in the mood is so good. With the few imperfection I have about my body I look damn good with my lingerie & size small panties. Lmbo you will feel great! It takes time but you will be right where I'm at.

I am so hoping this will be me.

I'm actually very nervous about this....

not so much about the food, but about the waste of money....

I am only 1 wk out, but in 5-6 weeks, political events begin for me which means being around a lot of food and lunch/dinner events. I cannot decline many of them but just feel as if so much will be a waste. I do plan to bring left overs home when possible, though it's a bit tacky to do so.

I need a FULL LIST of what I CAN eat. Luckily, I have been a fickle eater much of my life and I don't endulge in sweets and carbs....

I do look forward to the meats.

I do not look forward to the money though :(

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
