Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I found out the other day I can get an AA in Liberal Arts if I take 3 more classes. 3 specific ones I need. The college is in New Mexico, so I called and they told me I can do distance learning for those classes. Sounds good, right? So I log in today (registration day) and go to sign up.. they're all full! BAH HUM BUG!!!!!!! I've been hitting 'retry' and re-logging in every 15 minutes (that's when it boots you) waiting to see one damn person drop each of these classes. I don't need the AA, but hell if it only costs 600 bucks to get it, it'll look better on my resume, in case CD's and DVD's become obsolete (which is what it feels like we're getting to).

I'm at work and I have major upset stomache.. dunno why.. it hurts, I feel like I got diarhea, but my body will not let me go in public, so it's going to be a loooong day. I did quote a big job coming in soon though, for Nokia (or Nikon) I always get those confused, cameras. Oh my poor stomache.

Sounds like everyone's doing good.. love the pic of you ladies together, wish 3 of ya'll lived here so we could do that!!

When I came into work this morning, my mom and an accountant were outside smoking and my mom said "Someone looks skinny today" and the accountant said "Someone sure does!".

I'm wearing my Cirque du Soleil shirt-- which was an NSV I don't know if I mentioned. We saw the Beatles LOVE Cirque while in Vegas (awesome, awesome).. and I refuse to wear men's t-shirts.. I don't like the unflattering-ness of big baggy tees. But of course in most the world 'women tees' are for the anorexic. So in the junior/womens tees, I can only get them if they run 4-5x. They only had up to 2x.. so I got one I liked in 2x, which is like a damn medium in my brain.. for 'when I lose the weight'. It ends up I can wear it! It is fitted, but not bad fitted where I'm stretching it or looks bad. So, I'm wearing that and some black bell bottoms.. and it makes me look skinny. SCORE! Oh god my tummy..

LOL!!!

I just called my doc, to see if I can move my next fill to next week. Just 1 week earlier, I don't know why I care, but I guess I'm anxious.

They were asking me a lot of questions.. how much do you eat? Hm.. dunno, less than my last fill definitely, but more than I think I should be.

Then she asked what I weigh now (she pulled my chart).. I said.. (in an emberassed tone) I kind of threw my scale away! And she laughed and said that's fine.. so they're going to call me back. I don't know what the big debate is over there! She said it's too soon for my next fill.. I was last filled July 2nd.. it's been 3 weeks.. shrug.. it's only 1 week earlier than I was planning to go.

hey all - I am kind of down lately. the job thing is getting to me and not loosing anything and gaining is killing me. I am going to float in the pool for a bit, no kids at the moment so i'm going to put my radio on and just relax.

I am off tonight and there is a band playing at an outside park so i might go.

I don't know. I am just yucky and hope i can get a job soon - I am so far behind on all my bills... blah blah blah... and don't even feel like I look good at this point.

well enough of that...

i'll be back after i get in

Hi Ladies,

I wish I lived closer and could get together with all of you.

You're all doing so well, and are great support to each other.

As for Hair loss, I am almost 7 months out and my hair is

still falling out in handfulls. If anyone knows when that's going

to stop, I'd love to hear it too. I heard it can be from the

anesthesia too. If anyone had surgery before, and knows if

their hair ever fell out that time too, I'd love to hear that too.

I have been trying to find the nutrition plan that's posted

somewhere on here. Does anyone know what page it's on?

I really struggle with slow weight loss, but my dr. always

tells me it's because I didn't have as much to lose. That

isn't encouraging to me. I hate these plateaus!

When I was low-carbing I was on a forum like this one and girls complained about Hair loss then too. (Tracy, how about on LCF?) And low-carb diets are notoriously high-protein, so it can't be a lack of Protein. If I had to guess I'd say it had more to do with a sudden 'shock to the system', as in rapid weight loss. For those of you losing hair, how much weight did you lose, say, within the first 6 weeks post-op....expressed as a percentage of the total weight you needed to lose?

Here's a good article about hair loss: Changes in diet can sometimes lead to hair loss

I also posted it in the general discussion area

Note that it does stress that if you have a genetic predisposition for Hair loss that you are more prone to it. So that may explain why some women lose hair and some don't even though they may be following basically the same diet....like Atkins, for example.

Denise – that is a wonderful NSV! Congrat’s to you. You have worked hard for these moments and should enjoy each and everyone of them. I see many more in your future.

TracyK – your daughter is beautiful.

Jennifer & Jenn NY – congrat’s on being able to give up med’s. You both have to be ecstatic about that.

Tracy – he realized how lucky he is to have you and doesn’t want to lose you!

Mdrai & Judy– I hate that when you lose a post. I have started writing my post in Word then just copy and paste when I finish it.

Terry – Yes I know you are just messin’ -- but I really want to! And I would be happy to have you (Gym Nazi) encouraging me to get off my lazy a$$ any day of the week – so thanks. Congrat’s on new BEST weight “190”. I can’t wait to get there – I have a long way though – I had my new BEST today at 261. That is mainly due to only having liquids for the past few days due to my EPISODE.

Haydee – Have fun on vacation – and have your picture taken bunches and bunches! Enjoy.

SchexyMomma – Thanks for sharing the picture. You all look so confident, proud and happy!

Kat – You are right – I need to do the PT – the sad part is 1.) my insurance won’t cover it; 2.) I travel every other week; and 3.) it is 1 hour away each way. I will check into it again. It is amazing – we have the same herniation – I also had a tilted/twisted pelvis and wrenched tailbone. The pelvis is back in line – so that is good.

Q: You BAKE bacon? Never heard of that. Hmmm.

Kity – I know having contractor doing work on your home is very frustrating while it is being done --- hope all turns out great – making it worth the frustrations.

Laura – Congrat’s on your NSV today!

I don’t know how everyone else feels --- but I get real embarrassed and feel uncomfortable lately when people mention how good I look and carry on about it. I always try to change the subject – which they always try changing it back to me.

Laura – you are lucky that he makes you only wait 4 weeks – mine likes to wait 6 weeks. Which I think is way to long.

Jenn, NY - I am sorry you are having such a hard time finding a job you enjoy. I wish you lived somewhere close to one of my offices – it is so hard now days to find people who want to work and have a good work ethic. I will keep praying the Dream Job comes to you!

Tracy – you have a real special guy there! Wants to shop and complete wish lists. WOW. Enjoy this new attitude in your man.

Denise F. – I am not (to date having Hair loss issues) but I did when I was on Atkins. It stopped when I got off the diet and started eating Protein. I understand where you are with it and hope it stops soon for you.

Terry – good info regarding the hair loss problem. Thanks!

Have a great evening everyone!

Wow! That article is a little bit discouraging. I am glad I have not eliminated

fruit from my diet. The dr. says 75% Protein and 25% fruits and veggies. It said it can last 6 months. Mine started 4 months post op so I have a few months of it left. I hate it. Every time I wash my hair, I lose several handfuls.

Good evening, lovely Violets..I'm waiting for the last load of laundry before I head to bed. I've packed and am almost ready to head out again tomorrow to see the grandkids who are 5 hours away. Then to a wedding on Saturday and home right afterwards so we can be here for church Sunday morning. THEN we leave on Monday for our fills. It's a hectic week, but loads of fun. I'll be back online Tuesday and hope to catch up with everyone then. After Monday there are no more trips until DisneyWorld August 21-25. But Sept. 1 is our Alaska cruise and Nov. 4 is our Caribbean cruise. Lots of traveling coming up. I LOVE it!! Everyone rest well, have a great weekend and always remember.. WWJD?!!!

Evening Violets~

I am having a hell of a time w/ the Hair loss too. In late June, I cut it from down my back to shoulder length just to freshen it up. I lose bunches when I brush it and wash it. I take 5 mg of Biotin, which I don't think it is helping, but my nails grow very strong. I started noticing the hair loss about 6 weeks post op. I do meet the Protein daily, and as you all know, I've only lost 19-23 pounds since surgery. I totally quit drinking carbonated soda and no fast food, but other than that, I've eaten anything (especially before the fill). I am just trying to deal w/ it the best I can. I've always had fine hair, so I don't have lots of extra to lose. I try not to blow dry it or mess w/ it much during the day. If I lost weight, like I lost hair, I'd be one skinny minny!

House update: ITS PAINTED!!! Looks amazing outside. The bedroom is a mess now, and I'll be camping on the couch (good thing because I can't shut the front door all the way, long story). Best part is Susanne comes home tomorrow, and then I will feel better about it all. I had 11 workers here today...that is alot. My friend even came over to sit here when I ran to attorney. The new windows will be in some time, and I am hoping before we leave for the Cape next Friday! If not, it will be after, and that is fine w/ me too. Thanks to all of you for listening. I have to take some pix.

Went to dinner tonight and had 2 skinny pieces of pizza w/ my brother and his 3 kids. He and his gf are separating, so it was nice to see the kids. I only ate 2 small pieces, and I am stuffed like turkey dinner...the band is working. No gym tomorrow, but back on Saturday!

Have a great night all.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
