Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Pat - First of all, best of luck to you with your surgery tomorrow. I know you'll be glad to get it done and over with.

The only thing I can suggest is for you to find something to keep your mind and hands very busy.... stay away from all your normal triggers. Yoga, meditation, relaxation tapes....those also come to mind. You should find a way to relax and divert your focus away from your stomach and on to something pleasurable. Half of it is the mind game, y'know.

Pat: I FEEL YOUR PAIN BROTHER!!!!!!!

I am on day ONE of liquids (3 weeks for me)

I have been sipping Protein Shakes, eating SF Jello, and I am stopping by the store on my way home tonight for some SF popsicles.

I guess my best advice would be to make sure you are getting all your Protein in.... and when you are hungry, have a glass of Water then re-evaluate.

OH and by this time tomorrow you will be in BAND LAND!

Your first few days you will have post-op swelling so you won't be hungry, and maybe if your one of the lucky ones you will have some restriction just by the band itself! YOU ARE LUCKY to be getting it TOMORROW!!!!

Hey All,

I am 18 hours until BANDLAND!!! freakin can't wait. I am on bowel prep, and I haven't heard anyone mention it. I did a 10 day liquid prescribed diet from the doctor (like opti or medifast) and lost 11 pounds! Now, 2 days clear liquid...and yes I am starving, but day 2 is better. The bowel prep is a bummer, makes you sick to your tummy so your not hungry anyway. I just want it to be Wednesday, when I can put some real creamy Soup into the Magic Bullet and drink that. After the 10+2 days, I am more looking forward to that than anything (oh, yeah, and losing the weight). I did the Last Supper thing for months and put on 5 pounds from January until 3-21! I was shocked but it reinforced why I am doing this. I've mastered the eating thing...and was on my way to real trouble. I am glad that I will never be that high again (280). Anyway, hang in there guys and gals...it will all be over soon. Can you imagine our threads in May when we are ALL banded! God Bless!

peaceout:clap2:

Tracy,

You get used to the hunger pains. They become a constant, and you get used to them. Everytime you feel 'em or hear 'em as was the case w/ me, smile to yourself and say..." I am doing this so I can be at my best for my surgery. I am worth it."

The headache, which will come if it hasn't already, is because your going through sugar withdrawl. Not from sweets, but from all the carbs that turn to sugar. It goes away in about 3 days. You'll start to feel lighter, things will fit better, your skin will glow (because your not putting in the bad stuff) and your gonna start to sleep great! There are so many perks...hang in there...you can do it...and your worth it!

Hi Tracy and fellow April Bandsters,

Can I still join up???

I've just found this site. I'm over in New Zealand and would love the support of other April Bandsters.

My op is April 18th and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow.

Thanks,

Ellen.

Tracy - why have you gained weight?? Was it your famous Farewell to food Tour? I have been doing a *little* bit of that, really not too bad, and I'm bumping up at my high, too (215)....I seem to be gaining and losing 3# over and over. Story of my life for the last 6 mos. Water Water Water. More Water.

Tonight I take photos and measurements. I'd rather have my hair set on fire.

I'm thinking of my sisters out there getting banded today...and have been all morning! Sending lots of positive energy your way! Can't wait to hear from you and hope you're all just peachy-keen! ;)

I'm also a bit nervous. My mom is pretty sick (she has COPD) and I'd say there's a 50-50 chance they'll put her in the hospital in the next few days. What timing, eh? Especially since I haven't told her or my sister about my surgery....and surely can't postpone it without some type of penalty. I'm really wringing my hands over that one. Should know more this afternoon or tomorrow. :help:

Terry

You are strong and fantastic and all your kind words of encouragement helped me to make decisions about what to do in my path. You will know when the moment is there if you should tell them or find a kind way to explain you cannot get sick right now for what ever reason. You will know.

Stay strong - you are fantastic and it will all be good

I am having a bad weight week too but I think PMS is coming upon me... LOL

I guess better this week than the day before surgery

Tomorrow brings group 2 ... YIPEE. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers

I am going to be away for 9 days, I have to bring my laptop, I'll go through withdrawl and don't want to do that, I will be home on Saturday the 14th and having surgery on the 16th! So i Can't stay away from the thing that keeps me going and so positive

God Bless and all have a great night

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
