Oh honey!! Again? I'm so sorry. Been there and it's awful. Prayers and hugs!

I appreciate the encouraging words' date=' but I'm getting more and more frustrated with each day that passes without a single pound lost. I know I should stop weighing myself, but I'm afraid I'll show up at my next post-op appointment and STILL have not lost anything.

I know I'm not getting in 64oz of fluids (I really believe that's impossible.. I sipped literally all day long and got 20oz in) but I'm really close on my Protein. I'm taking my Vitamins and am becoming more active with each passing day.

WTH?!?!?[/quote']

I was told to weigh myself 1x a week and stop fixating on the number. I suck ice chips all day long! I carry Water in my car so I am not tempted to buy other drinks while out. 9 months out I start my day with Protein shakes...unjury...30 gram of Protein (1/2 for the day) AND 8 ounces of Fluid all done at the same time! Stall from time to time. Then bam drop up to 10 pounds. I feel better and am more active. Clothes fit better. I am starting to see a skinnier me in the mirror! People keep asking what my goal is meaning a number on the scale. My BMI was 48.1 when I started. My goal BMI of 23 regardless of number on the scale.< /p>

Still stuck in the stall from hell (on day 17 now), but I finally had my husband just hide the scale last night. I couldn't take it anymore. I so wish I could stomach the gosh darn Protein drinks!

I am frustrated too. Started liquids on Dec 3 and surgery the 17. I lost the first couple of weeks after surgery and have fluctuated 2 lbs up and down since. Going on week 3. So irritating. I am on reg foods now but stick with foods I was eating before during soft stage so I can add in Protein Powder. About 600 cal. So discouraging. If I'm going to lose most of my weight in the first 6 months as they say, this isn't looking too good. Thanks for letting me vent.

Don't think about that scale. Let your clothing be your indicator. I haven't stepped on a scale since my first follow up appointment with my doctor.

Ive heard a number of people complain about this but in the end they still lose the weight. Worrying just makes you reatin weight. Let the process happen at its own speed

I am having this issue. When I was doing my pre op diet, I would lose 10-12 pounds a month. I had my surgery on 12/11/12 and I am down 30 pounds. My first post op appointment I was 274, today, almost 3 weeks later I am 266. 8 pounds in a month? Why did I do this to myself? I feel like I lost more weight before my surgery. So upset.

Relax and breathe! Journal what you eat. Make sure you are getting your Protein 1st. Then your fluids. Move. I attend support groups. Everyone stall or slows. Your body needs to adjust to the changes. I go through periods were the scale doesn't move. The fit of my clothes changes then like magic the weight drops again. For the 1st time in over 20 years I am under 200. Solidly in the 100's!!!! If i could have done it without the surgery I would have. I couldn't and I had the surgery to save my knee. So far the benefits far out weigh any passing doubts on my part. I have to remember feelings are not facts. The fact is I made a life altering decision for my long term health. Do I question it? Hell yes! Do I believe I I made the right choice? Absolutely! Do it again? In a heartbeat! I just went through a down time...I had to buy new bras that fit and all my ' maybe someday I'll wear them again clothes' are too big. I had to go try clothes on...scary! I kept drifting to the big girl side. Today I can fit in clothes with no w after the size and they look good! Hang in. Trust that you made the right choice for your own health. We don't do this because we got nothing better to do on a Saturday night.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
