Somebody help me. I'm 3 weeks 4 days post op and my left side and back are still killing me. My doctor said it was because of the big stitch on the inside in the left where they did most if the work and when it dissolves (4-6 weeks) the pain will go away. Now yesterday my stomach is hurting worse but differently. Not only do I have the pain on my left side now I'm severely cramping like as if I had menstrual cramps or diarrhea. I don't have either. I am so sick of hurting. I am getting severely depressed.

I have the same issue except for mine is numbing sharp pain , I believe according to my doctor is it is normal and will disappear soon, we are allowed to take Tylenol, I'm now almost 30 days post op and its normal if the pain is that bad go to the ER, it will be okay just remember why you had the surgery , turn that frown upside down :)

I'm sorry to hear that. I would definitely ask your Dr again since you have new symptoms. Sorry that I don't have anything else for you :-(

Thanks for your info MrsB.

Have you tried a heating pad or rice/corn bag?!? Warm "moist" heat might help if its muscle healing pain

Hi Marla. My band to bypass date is March 21. Similar problems with the band so they completely unfilled it and now I'm gaining! I would love to be losing and can't wait to be on the other side like you. I've been told I will lose slower because I am smaller or lower bmi to begin with. Sounds like you started on the smaller side a well. How is your reflux now? Mine is someday better since being unfilled but I am still having quite a bit of it.

Yes I sleep on heating pad every night. It's like I'm having 3 different pains. A sharp pain in my left side I can only describe as it feels I've been stabbed. My back in that same left side area just aches and now the cramping. I just want to cry. I've lost nearly 30 lbs but I don't know that this pain is worth it. I'm so tired of hurting. I don't even know how to describe how sick of it I am. I feel like I can't do anything. I can't concentrate on work because I hurt I can't do housework because I hurt I can't play with my kids because I hurt. It hurts to drive it hurts to sit. I'm in the least pain when walking so I've been trying to do that but I am just miserable. I feel like a wimp like a desperate whiny baby. But I AM desperate for relief!!!

I don't think it's bad enough for ER but its just annoying constant pain that won't just freaking go away.

I initially had pain on the left side and my surgeon said that is because that was the side he had to put big equipment through like the stapler and the really tork on the muscles. I was sent home with liquid hydrocodone and that helped alot. I guess since you are so far out I would really contact that surgeon again. I know for me until my stitches came out I couldn't sleep in a bed so for the first two weeks I used a recliner but after that I have been get much better.. Hope you get some answers and or relief soon.

i wish i was more creative in the kitchen. i'm suffering from what most everyone else is going through-food boredom. had a taste of some of my old foods this weekend, and it was a big mistake. i was sick and now i'm on the straight and narrow. no beef, Pasta or doughy foods for me, (they sit heavy and cause major pain) and i have to stay away from all chocolate-even sf and dark. it's just too addicting.

if i never eat another serving of Jello, yogurt, chili, or refried Beans it would be fine with me. i could also gladly give up the Protein drinks, they are so nauseating now-but without them i can't get in my required amounts so i'm stuck. boo

anyone have any tips or tricks they'd like to share?

on the up side, i am starting to see my collar bones (yay-NSV!) and need to go shopping in my closet to see what i can wear to work next monday-it's been 6 weeks since i've worn any of my dressy clothes. probably better try on my heels and flats as well because my shoes are fitting a little differently too. B) now that i think about it, do any of you have any tips on how you survived when you started back to work? were you able to get in any walks, how about eating and Water? no one at work knows, they only know about my severe gerd and acid reflux and that i had a hernia repaired.

That's all my work knows too. They know I had surgery to fix my acid reflux and a hernia. I walk around the building several times a day and I walk outside everyday at lunch. Nobody has even asked me why I'm walking.

Have they noticed weight loss? Wondering if anyone from my work will.

Well crap, tried to get creative and it backfired. Took 2oz of lunch meat, (chicken) and divided it into two, put a couple slices of avocado and spread a half wedge of garlic and herb laughing cow cream cheese on each and then rolled them up. Ate one and feels like a ton of bricks are sitting on my chest. Hoping the Papaya works because this is painful and I really don't want to have to return it. :( it must be the lunch meat, I've had the other items before-I chewed really well and took small bites. PHOOEY!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
