January Dates

Recommended Posts

Ok I'm post op now!!! I had surgery yesterday at 7:30am. I had some trouble coming out of anesthesia. My hubby and the nurses said I was really goofy and loopy. I had a lot of the gas pains yesterday and this morning but I had my barium swallow at 7:30 today and now I am sipping on Water so wonderful. I love Water always have and I was glad that I can still tolerate it. Starting to fall asleep so gonna go back to bed. Thanks for all your support and prayers.

I am glad that you did well and are feeling better. :) Way to go.

I had a really rough night last last night. They have mentioned discharging me today but I just don't feel ready. My insurance pre approved me for up to 5 days. I want to just stay one more night and leave tomorrow morning. That would only be 3 days. I want to get through one night where I don't have an emotional breakdown. Is that crazy? I have to drive 2.5 hours to get home and I just want a better grip on everything. I've been walking every hour and doing my breathing exercises. I feel ok during the day (just tired mostly). At night is when the pains start.

Thoughts???

I stayed 5 days (only b/c I had 2 surgerys) but stay an extra night if insurance pays for it and if you feel comfortable. It was nice having the reassurance and help from nurses, but when you get home, it's a little more different because you're more on your own. Hang in there; feel better :)

Well I just found out I can't. The doctor on call(not my doc) said I have to get out now. I've been crying ever since because I feel so lost. I have a long drive and I've taken in nothing but Water since surgery but she says there is no medical reason for me to stay and wouldn't even let me stay through afternoon.

And now she made me take potassium in a teaspoon of yogurt. Yogurt isn't even on my list of allowed foods until day 15 post op.

That is horrible and I thought they didn't want you driving for a week. I can't believe emotional instability is not a god enough reason to let you stay. I don't even know you and have more compassion for you...I wish I could come and at least get you home safely.. I'm praying for you now.....I'm so sorry you are going through this...

I was just really surprised. I thought if I wasn't ready she would at least let me stay until after noon but no I was discharged within 45 minutes of her leaving my room. There I was balling my eyes out and she just kept saying "there is no medical reason for you to be here. If you aren't comfortable going all the way home, go check into a hotel but you aren't staying here"

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
