I was able to finish a 6oz yogurt today with Protein Powder in it. Is this too much too soon ? I am 9 days post op. I figured I would just stop when I was 1/2 finished but wound up eating it. I feel fine and no over full. Anyone else able to eat a bit more than suggested? I will measure more next time

I don't know about the amount, but don't you love adding the Protein in the yogurt and eating it in place of drinking a shake?

Yes it is absolutely too much. You should not be eating more than 2 oz at a time, do NOT make this a habit or you'll stretch your pouch. The reason you did not feel full immediately is because most of your nerves in the stomach are inactive due to surgery. You will not feel your pouch tell you to stop eating for about 2 months and then you'll find that you won't be able to eat nearly as much because all of your nerve endings have "woken up." This is a normal thing that many people have not been told by their surgeons for some reason

liquid can stretch that is why we have to sip our fluids and not gulp. and yes only 1-2 ounces 3 times a day of food. I am going on 3 weeks post op in Monday and I am just beginning to be able to tell now when I am full

At my 1 week post-op i asked my dr if i should be able to drink a whole 10oz Protein Shake and he said yes because it doesn't stay in your pouch, it moves through (which is why it's important to sip...not gulp). I remember my pre-op appt with my nutritionist and she emphasized "bulking up" yogurt later on bcuz yogurt would pass thru your pouch too.

Yeah I was told the same thing that yogurt passes thru your pouch so eat it slowly especially for Protein sake. I have been eating 6 Oz Greek yogurts since my surgery and today I actually couldn't finish it. I felt full. So the nerve thing is true. I'll be 5 weeks post op on Monday.

Yeah it seems that none of the surgeons tell patients that they'll initially be able to eat more than they eventually will.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
