Omg It Just Became Real! This Is Happening.

Recommended Posts

Gastric Bypass - Scheduled for November 26.

I have been preparing for this since August. Everything has been happening so fast for me. I've been calm through out the entire process.

I've done my research, read and asked a million questions. I'm both physically and mentally prepared. I had an appointment on Oct 24 that's when I was given my surgery date. I was excited but ok.

Buuuuut today... oh today! Today s***t got REAL! LoL

I had my last appointment wiflth my surgeon... I was ok.. we talked about everything. He looked thrum my Vitamins and all was good.

Then he said: Ok we are all set. Next time I see you it'll be right before surgery.

The moment I was in my car I couldn't stop crying. What is happening to me?

All of a sudden I am nervous, scared and having second thoughts. Am I ready for this? Am I capable of doing this? Can I do this? Am I making the right choice!

I'm so emotional. Can't stop crying.

Your emotions are all over the place and they probably will be for a couple of days. And then a calmness will come and that is when you will know you have made a very good decision. Just remember all the reasons you wanted to have the surgery, remember all the things you want to GAIN as you LOSE the extra weight. Do something special for yourself if you can, go to a movie, finish a craft project Go get a mani/pedi. This is real and I know it is hitting you hard. But we are here for you and we are going to help you get through this. Big Hugs

I went thru the exact same emotions after my appt with my surgeon yesterday!!! I called my husband and where I should have been jumping up and down excited all I wanted to do was cry! He was worried something had changed or been delayed because I was so upset..lol! I am sure it was reality sinking in for me. I do not see my surgeon again until the day of surgery and I am nervous and scared but I have continued to remind myself of the reasons why I started this and it helps to lessen the fear and put my goals back in prospective. I am sure you will do great :) the people here are pretty awesome and very supportive. Good luck to you!!!

Haha! It's soo funny (and reassuring) reading everyone's reactions! I had my last appt before surgery on Tuesdays and no one else understood when I said "I am sh*tting my pants right now!" Lol. I felt so excited and so scared at the same time, which resulted in a doe in the headlights look. I was stunned is all I can say.

Awwee!! It will get better!! I think this whole process is going to be one big emotional roller coaster! Sometimes you'll have to put your hands over you're eyes and wait out the fear and other times you'll be putting your arms in the air screaming "whhooohooo"! Lol. I'm just praying it's more whhooohooo for me and less eye covering! ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
