Bmi To Low Without Comorbitities

Recommended Posts

Ok so I got an email today saying my BMI is to low like 39/39.5 .i have no known comorbity issue ..I should b glad but I'm @least 100 lbs over weight! I'm 5'8 1/2 if I was 1/2 inch shorter wouldn't be an issue! I don't think :/ has anyone dealt with this and worked it out to get it approved?

You need to find a new doctor that's on your side. I would ask around from other people in your state or ask your surgeons office if they worked with preferred doctors.

Wow! That's nuts.. ! I was thinking that could very well be my situation until I emailed my patient coordinator..

My BMI is 41.1 AND I'm on a 6 month diet AND cannot be beneath a BMI of 40 by my consultation and pre labs. smh We need prayer.

So you started your diet last month..or a year ago? When are you shooting for a surgery date?

And yes! I would totally go somewhere else.. you need to be complete satisfied with whom you choose to care for you. the staff makes a difference bc you will talk to them more than anything!

Being border line sucks SO bad.. You would think they'd acknowledge that there are some people can lose some kind of weight but the hard part is keeping it OFF. But hey.. at least the relaxed the criteria.. there will always be someone unhappy about the requirements. :(

What bmi does your insurance require you to be.

Shona like everyother..anything below 40 must have comorbities or atleast 40..I am like 39 comorbities...well I was 2 weeks ago I fluctuate about 7 lbs which today makes me @40 but when I was @ doc was 39 lol go figure..the issue is that they require 3 years of being atleast a 40 BMI..my doc records so far show me below that slightly !

Thanx for the good mojo ...I'm just stressing!

The girl said if my doc recorded a weight that put me @ 40 for past 3 years to come in they could "reweigh" me...but if they don't show a 40 for 3 years I guess I can't b approved?:(((

I feel your pain. I was denied my first try because I didn't have a 2 year history. I was told to look through all medical claims filed for the first year to see how much I weighed because my pcp didn't not have a recorded bmi over 40. It was a urgent care that had the recorded weight I needed.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
