So I am scheduled for banding on MArch 5th..I'd love to know what foods I will never be able to tolerate once I am banded...so I can be sure to eat them in the next two weeks:)

One never knows what you'll be able to tolerate or not. Everybody is different. I can't eat red meat anymore, just won't go down, but everything else so far is ok for me. Try copying the entire url link (the whole box) and pasting it in your signature. Good luck on the 5th.

I can eat red meat but have a tough time with chicken, go figure.

Soft bread is tough for many but certainly not all. I can eat pizza, no problem.

Like the above said. This journey is a bit different for everyone. Its a learning process. I am almost 4 months out and its still trial and error.

Good luck

I can eat everything cept those soft taco wrap thingies... they for some reason go down like glue, but as far as everything else, as long as I chew well, it goes down.

I wouldn't worry about it :)

chicken and soft bread usually don't work and I don't try too often - most other foods go one day and then they don't another day. I just tried egg white omellete for Breakfast and it stuck but most days it works. it's a bit frustrating but i don't automatically cross a food off my list if it doesnt work - i try it another day (if i crossed off all foods that got stuck i wouldn't be able to eat anything - for me its more a matter of chewing good and a tiny teeny bite) - well, except for chicken -i've pretty much given up on that. go figure

hi renee what was your preop diet? Did you lose all of that weight from that . How do you feel now..3 weeks after surgery? Should i cancel dinner plans that i have 3 weeks after surgery..or will i be ok to sip while the others eat? I really am trying to figure out when i will fell normal. I mean can you feel the band in place when you are not eating or drinking...when you are lying down? I still cannot decide whether to keep this a semi-secret or not..help i have more questions as i get closer.

thanks,

mags

I lost 10 lbs preop and 16 post op. My preop diet was low fat, low carb, high Protein. I was allowed 3 oz of lean meat a day. Low fat dairy products and Protein Shakes. No fruit was allowed, no sugar.

I can't feel my band. I had my surgery on Friday and went to a basketball game the next day. I went to work on Monday. I should have taken some time off but I didn't. By 2 weeks I was almost 100%. I am 3 weeks now and I have lower energy than before but otherwise I am good. I wouldnt cancel a dinner. I am eating as I will for the rest of my life now, although I have little restriction. I do have some though. I can't eat anywhere near what I used to eat. Good Luck.

I don't do bread, Pasta or rice well now. I just had an adjustment, so while I was still pretty open I had a magical grilled cheese sandwich.....OMG I forgot how much I love that. I am now adjusted and back on track. I should add that I can have rice, in Soup, but no other way. ~Mandy

It's true most people find that there are certain things they can't eat. I'm still not able to eat much that is solid but that's because I just had surgery. But the thing I am noticing is that I am experiencing about twice the flavor in the things I do eat. I used to just wolf things down. Now, I savor everything I eat (because the band forces me to do that) and I'm finding that I really enjoy the actual flavor of the food much more than I used to. If this is a permanent change I'll consider it a good trade off even if there are some things I can't eat.

Mark, that is a great way to look at food. Here is my take on it.

I can only eat about 3 cups of food a day. I would rather eat 3 cups of quality food, than 3 pounds of the crap I ate in the past. If I am going out and know I can only eat a small amount. I used to order the largest steak on the menu, quanity over quality everytime. Now I add a side of shrimp or lobster to my hubby's meal (if they offer that) or I order the smallest cut of steak (even though the cost the same as the biggest cut) the smaller cuts are more tender and flavorful. I will order the "princess" or "ladies" cut of filet, or a good rare Ahi tuna, and I am one happy bandster. I bring home left overs even with the smallest cut, they are great reheated for lunch the next day. I leave more satisfied than I ever did in the past. A few quality bites are all I need now and I savor every bite I take. ~Mandy

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
