Getting My Business Done.

Recommended Posts

Ok, so all my Dr's visits are done and dusted. Just got my Pathology back, and everything is normal. Which is pretty much why i am getting this surgery, nothing seems to be wrong with me other than my metabolism is shot.

So next I have to see the Dietician on the 11th Dec and she will give me my liquid diet.then in Jan I will go see the Surgeon, and get scoped and then set a date for the surgery.

Thanks everyone, well I am progressing along this journey to my surgery date. All reports have come back very favorable except for one, from the Shrink, he has not yet sent the report yet, and he was the first person I saw. So my Surgeon, is gonna have a look into it for me. I am going to schedule my pre-op checkup with him for mid Jan.

Congrats on making the decision! May I ask what the problem was with the psych eval? I'm going through all the pre-op testing myself : )

Thanks. I don't believe there was any psychological problem with the eval. The shrink just hasn't sent the report in yet. but my surgeon will be chasing it up, and will find out whats happening.

It's an amazing journey so far, and cannot wait to have the surgery and start losing.

Hi all' date='

I'm 30 in a few days and have finally Made the decision to get RNY.

I'm 6'3" and 160kgs(353lbs) living in South Africa I cannot wait to be banded! Going to go discuss my options and plan with the doc on Thursday afternoon, it's such a relief to make this decision. . I have a strong need for this. I have been at 40+ BMI since I was 14 and although it hasn't got super out of control I have tried everything under the sun!

Now is my time to shine!

Bring on the RNY I say!![/quote']

Welcome aboard & congrats on your decision!!

Yeah, the think is I work for an international company but our office here in South Africa is small(5 people) and there is only 2 of us in our department. I generally have to travel a lot for work, and so I want to be able to not travel for at least a month after surgery. Local travel I could possibly do, just the international could be difficult as its mostly into Africa, and that can be very difficult being on a liquid only diet. I must admit thinking about this now, it's gonna be difficult even after I am off the liquids and on mushies. But I guess I will have to just deal with it.

I also need some advice on what to tell my boss to get 2weeks off in march, and to make sure I'm there for the whole month. Sometimes people are just not that understanding. Was wondering if there was some other procedure I could say I'm having. If not I am going to have to tell them the real reason.

I am trying to make sure I can keep my customers and my company happy, but I also want this surgery to make me happier.

I know I'll have to tell them, my pre-op visit is the 2nd Jan, when he will start scheduling my Surgery. I will just need to ask for the 1st March 2013 or a day closest thereafter. It seems so far away!!

Do you really have to tell them what you're having? Can you just say you need to have a surgery? What if y just say you're having some stomach problems.... Gall bladder, kidney, etc. I guess we're just really protected here in the States by the HIPPA privacy act.

Yeah, not sure we have the same thing. Well I have to plan my trips for Feb, and get them over and done with. I will try Be as vague as I can.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
