Ooh ladies! Work on the confidence!! See someone if you have too. About 7 years ago I got down to 175 and went to Mexico as a celebration. I couldn't see the new me. I was very depressed and the downward spiral started. One persons crack that I was still fat and I gave up. I can admit this now but not proud of it. I know this time ill need more emotional support. Good luck to all of you. You really look good.

I can relate ellie

I find myself in awe of how I've changed. I am a visual person and need to see it that's why I sucked at diets I would give up when I didn't see changes. So every Wednesday (my surgery day) I take a pic and when I want a good laugh I edit the pic to side by side and I can't believe my eyes! I'm glad I knew that about myself and the day I started my wls journey I took a pic and that was my highest medical record weight.

The day I started / last Wednesday

Surgery 7/25/12

For years I had the fat tapes playing in my head. I still see my flaws. I am my own worse critic always have been. Sometimes I cannot see the changes. I still see the fattest me. Then I put my clothes on... sizes I have not worn in 10 years or more! Some days I feel sexy and hot and some days not. I was fat for a really long time it will take a while to change that mind set. You are not alone.

I would love to hear more on this. Because it does seem like something every one deals with. and i wonder why.' date='

You have lost 83 pounds, seems like your mind should let your eyes see what a difference that is. Why doesn't it? Good question.

Great Job by the way[/quote']

Cause we always see the imperfections. Suddenly, the things we liked about ourselves, that we considered our finer qualities, have changed. Like our once voluptuous boobs that now are reaching to our toes. We didn't like looking at ourselves before, and had a lifetime of being self critical, and hearing hateful comments.

Why should we like and love ourselves? Because God loves us, and He makes no mistakes. This walk happened for a reason, perhaps even to reveal the hearts of those around us. Let yourself be like a rose, which, in is full bloom is at its most beautiful. We are just getting ready to bloom...

Absolutely! I was so used to loving my "good qualities" such as good person... Blah now I'm being told all of these amazing kind words and its flattering but I know I am made on Gods perfect image, and I am allowing myself to accept the compliments and still be a good person. I am ready to blossom and love the me I used to over feeding and not move:)

I found old pictures and videos of myself pre-op and newly post-op... that was my holy shit moment. My thinnest was in high school (180lbs at 5'8") and now I'm 186.6lbs.... but I don't see the Kaylee I miss from high school. When I was huge I saw old Kaylee, so now that I'm thinner I have a sense of "but this is how I always looked" because I never accepted or saw how much I really ballooned out. Now looking at me at 276lbs really puts it in perspective... but I'm still not even close to how I want to look. 140lbs I think i'll be happy...

Remember, we need to seek happiness at all levels and stages. Don't bank your happiness for when you get to be a certain weight, else, you won't be happy even then. Be happy now...and continue doing the right things. There will be setbacks and struggles. Find joy even in those moments.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
