Ready To Ditch The Chewables

Recommended Posts

Thanks Jerrie. Just got them today. I will let u know how it goes.

I tried them. I survived. It wasnt too bad. I never felt like vomiting which is what i was worried about. They r kinda dry but after i chewed and swallowed i took a sip of Water to rinse out my mouth. Anyhow this will work:)

I was told to crush my pills for 2 months, and take chewables Vitamins. But apparently all surgeons are so different so I don't know what to tell ya:) after reading all these comments the past couple days, I started just cutting my pills in half and taking them that way and continuing my chewable vitamins. The 3 pills I have are so small though. And the other 2 that are capsules, I am still opening those up and just swallowing the powder. I just couldn't crush those other 3 anymore, It was making my pouch hurt so bad.

I use the one a day women's multi Vitamins petite. They are smaller and they have a coating on them. I have no problems taking them.

I am about to go into surgery, but I picked up Men's GNC Mega Vitamin in liquid form. I don't know if doc is cool with it but I have an appointment before and I'll find out then.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
