Pre-Op Testing - It Should Not Be This Hard...

Recommended Posts

I actually have been pretty depressed since Monday from not hearing anything. And with them not answering the phone or scaling me back makes me nervous.

Thanks all!! I had a conversation today with the NUT and she was kinda nasty. She was yelling at me that they did not have my food logs and that she was going to tell my insurance company I am not compliant. WTH?? I am so pissed. I had to do a make up session for my monthly weigh in since I traveled the whole month of Sept for work. They did not ask for them. I have them!!! I thought they would just get them at the next session. Why would somebody be mean about it before even getting what happened?? I understand that people do not do what they are told but you do not assume that I am not. I finally got her to go speak to the other NUT that had helped me. I feel bad for him. He tried to help me out and now has to explain it all to her.

Oh Melinda is a royal bitch she's pissed me off countless times during the 6 months she's a nasty person she was the one who told me I wasn't going to be approved (but I was) and just stay persistent with them they were very helpful trying to get me in the insurance coordinator is very helpful trying to get u in on a date if its back up tell her u want to be called if someone else gets a date changed she did that for me and I got my date changed by a month almost good luck I'm here if u need to talk Bc I'm going thru McGee too

Melonpie... Yes she is a royal bitch but she did soften up a bit once she realized I was serious. Dr McCloskys staff has been pretty good. How long did it take you to get a date after being approved?

Worm I am praying our phones ring today. I broke down and called the office and left a light hearted message just wanting to know if they had heard anything ya da ya da, and please have a nice day. And now I wait for a return call.

I just want to know if there is something that I can be doing, DO I need to get letters from my doctors ect just tell me people I will do it.

Ok off the rant for a minute. So nerve wreaking.

I'm frustrated today. My 90 day weight loss trial ends on Dec 20 and I could have had my surgery at the very beginning of 2013. But I found out today that my dietician will be out for the holidays and my date is pushed back to Jan 2. Don't they know that every day counts and every day waiting on your surgery is torture. I'm ready now!

Oh I hear you!! I'm surprised they don't have a fill in for her. Hang in there!! Can you do it before. They took me a week early because it was the only appointment for a month.

For real. A day to them is like a week to us. So aggravating. They put things into weeks and months and we really want to hear hours and days. Wishing you the best

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
