So when you're in the hospital post op, do you have to wear the gowns, or can I wear pajama pants and a tank top?? I hate going without a bra too...anyone know??

Depending on where you're incisions are a bra can be uncomfortable. You'll have some bleeding from the incisions that will get on your clothes so you'll probably want to watch for that as well.

When I woke up I had a catheter for a while so anything like pants wouldn't have worked and by the time that came out I only had a few more hours so just stayed in the gowns they gave me. I wore one in the back then another in the front. You're pretty covered up in them if you use two.

You can wear whatever you want as long as the clothes don't interfere with the IVs or the incisions. I brought pajama pants with me but surprisingly I never put them on. The gowns were actually comfortable plus I was draining from 2 of my incisions so I didn't want to get that all over my pajamas. I did put underwear on the 2nd day when the catheter came out though. That made me feel 100 times better lol.

I am thinking about one of those really soft 'genie' type bras. I can't imagine walking the halls with my huge boobs not in a bra. I guess no one really cares but I don't want anyone to gag! lol

My catheter was out like an hour after I was fully awake. Once I got to my room I put on my pjs bottoms and a sport tank that has a built in bra. I didn't have to worry about blood or drainage because I was glued shut but I definitely would not wear a bra with underwires cuz they will murder that top incision.

Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
