  1. We sure do have this! I have surgery tomorrow so today was clear liquids only and it's been hard. I never thought I would say I miss my protein drinks! Best of luck to starting tomorrow and anyone else nearing the end. We are all on our way to new lives!
  2. Every doc is a little different from what I've read on here. Some only have 1 to 2 days of a liquid diet and others have 3 to 4 weeks. My doc has his patients do 2 weeks. Tomorrow is my last day and then surgery on Tuesday :-)
  3. Wow that's awesome! I waited 3 weeks for approval from my insurance.
  4. From what my nutritionist said was that the protein can come from any source, the shakes are just one of the options. So if u are getting all your protein through food then you don't need the shakes.
  5. I believe what you are talking about is an abdominal binder. I haven't had surgery and my surgeon didnt mention anything about wearing one. Just like the diet progression I guess every surgeon is a little different.
  6. The numbers on the scale not moving has always been my downfall when trying to diet before so I've made the decision to have my husband hide the scale when I'm in the hospital so I'm not tempted to weigh myself all of the time.
  7. Make sure you bring your protein and lots of liquid things on your trip. I went out of town tonight and it was really hard to find soup or something for me to eat whenever everyone else wanted to go out.
  8. I'm from Ohio! Having my surgery on Tuesday in Bowling Green. I know what u mean about ugly pictures. I have my fair share of them. But that will soon change for both of us!
  9. Glad to hear you're OK! We will keep praying for ya. Keep your head up :-)
  10. Nah none of those things will prevent clearance unless they are way out of control. I have a heart murmur and had to have a couple of echocardiograms and wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks to make sure everything was OK since I was newly diagnosed and got my clearance from there. Good luck to ya!
  11. The number on the package for the protein is just in the powder. If u mix it with milk there will be more protein. I always mix mine with milk too. I don't like the taste much with water. The two brands I have found that taste the best are Muscle Milk and Unjury. Crystal light doesn't make any protein drinks that I know of but Unjury does make unflavored protein which u could try and mix with a crystal light that u like.
  12. I have not had the surgery yet but when I talked with my surgeon last week he said the surgery is about 2 hours give or take plus time in the recovery room. He keeps the catheter in until the next day do he said pants might be hard to wear with that but I was welcome to bring them and try. He said just to make sure they are comfy around the waist because it will be sore from surgery. I talked with the anesthesiologist about my nerves before surgery and he said they wouldn't give me anything for the night before but they could the morning of to calm me down going into surgery.
  13. Wow that's great! I didn't think my insurance would cover mine at first and when I met with my surgeon he said whether I went through insurance or not he requires all of his patients to do the 3 months. But when I found out my insurance would pay (for some of it at least lol) it worked out that I had to do the 3 months for them anyway. Surgery is set for a week from today!
  14. Most insurances and doctors require at least a 2 to 3 month time period before surgery where u have to meet with the dietician and start changing old habits. So if this is your first appointment with the surgeon then you may have a while until the surgery.
  15. I think you're right about the emotional attachment to food and how you have to live without that starting with the liquid diet. I am on day 6 of mine and it's certainly better now than it was at first. I have stopped working out really hard since I don't have as much calories going in and started just going for some walks outside to get my exercise in. Not sure if your surgeon allows soups but mine does and I have been getting full on some of the cream soups that I mix with skim milk and just strain the potatoes or whatever veggies are in them.
