I declare this:

Dawn's Day of Onederland

Happiness abounds! Dawn, of course you cried. I just cried for you. You are amazing and what you've done is amazing. I can't wait to join you. Here are some dancing bananas, because you deserve them.

:) :girl_hug: :girl_hug:

Because we're kindred WLS spirits, would it be OK if I sent you a Onederland present? If so, PM me your mailing address.

Julie and Betty, hope you both have a great time! I'm back to my plateau but seem to be loosing inches instead of pounds. GGGgrrrrrrr!:) I've been feeling rotten with my asthma and haven't left my house in days due to the cold and ice. Right now I have lost my drive to workout and that is probably reflected in my plateau. So close to onederland, and yet so far. Bummer.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Betty, so glad things will be taken care of sooner than later with Alan. The waiting alone can be very stressful. I will keep you both in my prayers.

Roberta,

It is normal to lose that drive when you feel rotten. Please don't be hard on yourself. I think it is amazing you have kept up as well as you have with all of the asthma setbacks. Hold tight and be patient. Things WILL get better!

I don't have an excuse for my lack of drive. I have been running and working out completely out of commitment to the group! The plateau has brought my spirits down. Even preparing for a 5K has not had the excitement it should. Aren't I spoiled?? How soon do we take things for granted and want MORE!

I was stuck at this weight on the way up for about a year. That was six years ago There is NO way I will be stuck here for a year on the way DOWN!! It is FILL TIME for me. At my last fill appt. in August, the doctor wanted to put in more, but I asked for a smaller fill. PB's scare the heck out of me. Now, it feels as though there isn't much restriction at all. :hungry:

Isn't that why I got the band???

So, hasta la vista, I'm goin' to Mexico next week! (Where's a dancing banana with a sombrero when you need one?)

Boo, where are you exactly, we stay all over the place from Pasadena to Torrence, to Cerritos to Huntington Beach, I am not due up there in the next 3 weeks but who knows after that? You must PM me your phone number!

Well found out the suspect Valetines wish was for real so yipppeeee for me!

My garden is going great, I have so many tomatoes (tomaytoes to you all, hehehe) growing I don't know what to do, can I freeze them??? Any recipes for those and peaches would be greatly appreciated if you PM me!

I am off to gym in half hour and then for a swim, then I am attempting to make peach sorbet.

Yes all, to be honest my eating could be better and I must pull my socks up and get it better.

XXX Amourette!:)

I have to say---I love my husband!!! We just got home, he took me away on a surprise mini vacation for V-day! He and my oldest DD got together, and planned, and worked, and I had a fabulous weekend----he thought of EVERYTHING! There is a mountain town in Colorado called Ouray (pronounced yur-ray), it is built into the mountains---is called mini Switzerland. We used to go on our Anniversary, but with all this last year brought, we didn't go. So he booked our usual place...and he surprised me! He took along candles, and he knew which fragrance to buy (coulda been DD's influence there!!!), he packed some serious Chick Flicks, my favorite blanket to snuggle under...he remembered to load my down pillows! He had bags full of food, and most of it was band friendly....we ate out, but he had all kinds of things for the room. He had bought a tray of chocolate covered cherries and strawberries, from a local bakery. He had booked us a massage at the motel, we spent a lot of time in the hot springs, with it snowing on us! We rented snowshoes, and went walking in them---talk about exercise!!! It was a fabulous time...I remain in shock that he did all of it without me having a clue! He even had the neighbor in the know--so that she would feed the cat! We needed the time, what a way to reconnect---I guess I'll keep him!!!

Then on the way home, we stopped in Durango at the Walmart this morning, figuring it would be quicker...I ended up buying 2 new pair of jeans---size 14!!! I cannot keep the scale moving steadily, but things are changing in my body!!! We had to come home fairly early, we have a birthday dinner for a friend tonight at Fudruckers. Should be fun.

Dawn---I am SOOOO happy for you, and proud of you!!! Onederland---someday I'll stop by there and visit ya!!! Seems so close and yet so far away the way I am losing these days---at least the size is still changing.

I need to get ready for our party---just stopped to tell you I am home---had a wonderful weekend....sometimes that man just knocks my socks off!!!

ok, ok, ok, we WERE gone all weekend, a few things were off besides my socks!!!

Hugs to you all!

Betty, I am glad things are being taken care, of, will feel better when he is well again!

Boo--got your PM---how exciting!!! Keep us posted!

Will catch up more tomorrow!

Kat

Just got back from Seattle..............did the 5K walk in the morning yesterday..............don't think it was a real 5K.....but, we walked for about 45 min to an hour...........with a lot of nice bandsters. It was an enjoyable week-end...........not great tho...........the best part of the whole week-end was ..................MEETING DR. ORTIZ..........for the first time.........
Boo
........can't imagine how exciting it was to have him "in you"!..................sorry couldn't help that!!!!! No wonder you're going back for a fill - I'd be there every week.............!!!!!! For the rest of you, who don't know...........he's something else again! The splash was ok.....some of the speakers were good, some actually pretty bad..........most of it was a repeat for me.............but, talking to all the bandsters in all the different stages was fun............they had a slide show of befores and after and it was very touching.......a tear jerker! I met a woman at lunch who had the #234 on her name tag and I said, you and I started at the same weight............she laughed and said "no, that's what I lost"!...........she was the biggest looser at the splash! She lost me - at my highest!

Kat
.............love the one I have..........but, he's definately not the romantic (he'd be upset if he read that tho)..................wow, what a wonderful valentine surprise.

Busy couple of days coming up - babysitting grandkids!

Guys - You really are - MY SALVATION!

I can't believe how much you all mean to me - you're continued support with our exercise challenge has been ......I CAN'T COME UP WITH THE WORDS..................I now need to exercise...........it helps me physically and spirituously get through the days with so much more energy and honestly keeps me in my SKIN with all that has been happening in my life lately..................SO..........THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!:clap2:

Roberta, I'm exactly in the same position as you..........I've learned really good how to maintain my weight at 170 ish.............with me tho, I know I need to cut back a bit more with my food intake - just don't want to do it right now......I've been doing a lot of warm liquid (sugar free soy latte's) comfort stuff........that add up to a few too many calories (the difference for me I think to maintaining/losing). I keep saying tomorrow I won't do this, but to date need that comfort! I keep telling myself when things "get more normal" I'll work on it...........but, I know that there is always something around the corner to throw off that "normalcy" and I "should" do it today! Help!

Got to my favorite NIA class this morning and off to babysit grandkids - Alan is already over there and I'm the afternoon relief!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
