welcome home Julia! Glad you're feeling better.

Did they let you know what caused it? Are you at risk for it to happen again.

just throwing this out there but if any of you post op have pinpoint chest pain, that is pain that you can point right too (typically to one side of the chest or the other) you should seek medical attention immediatly, 1000 times more so if you get SOB. This is a great EARLY catch story! I'm very glad your doing ok and let us know how your continuing to do!!!

I totally agree! We nurses are the worst patients! I have pt, OT and a home health nurse reminding me of that daily!

I had the surgery May 15 and have lost 45 lbs. have a follow- up tomorrow with the surgeon; hoping that he got all the records from the ICU!

A medic saved my life in the ER. Young man hooked me up and murmured "inverted T waves" which got everything rolling. He also got me to radiology stat for the CT scan which showed all the clots. You guys are great!

Having a medic and nurse on the RNYTalk boards will be very helpful! Please, PLEASE don't ever hesitate to pipe in if you think someone should seek their surgeon or medical help. Quite often folks post things here that make me scratch my head as to why they haven't called their surgeon/bariatric center to confirm it's nothing or to confirm they need to go in. I'd love for folks who see these things and dangerous signs and symptoms to feel comfortable to pipe in.

So glad you're feeling better julia! Welcome to the boards dstollery and good luck with your journey as well.

I'd be glad to be any help I can on these boards; send me a PM on Facebook or an email if you need to.

Had a great checkup yesterday at the surgeon, and I walked all over Mercy Hospital (got lost!) with little shortness of breath. Dr Awais is very happy with the progress, especially since the blood clot adventure (Which put me in a local hospital, not his). Going back in 6 weeks, and he wants me to stay off work for another month. Fine with me with this hot, hot weather!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
