South Beach Diet Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

Audree, how do you count your calories? There are some foods that I eat that don't have the calorie count on the package. I don't know how to tell cheese

because it would make a difference how thick it's sliced, etc. There are a lot of foods that I can't tell if I am counting right.

I loosly keep a count in my head, just for my info right now. I want to be able to look back and see where my body did best, higher calorie, lower or a combination like I am doing. Technically on South Beach, you eat till satisfied not counting anything!

Eventually I won't count, but just want to make sure I am not eating too much since I have no restriction right now and then when i get filled in a week or so, I want to make sure I am eating enough.

You can also use Fitday.com

Another reason i count for now, I people underestimate how much they eat and then wonder why they don't lose or gain. We can be off by at least 1000 calories or more. I know that I probably was having about 4000 calories or more and didn't think I was eating a lot!!:faint:

My nutrionist said to lose eat between 1200-1500 , no more no less.

This PMS stuff is crazy!!!! I was starving too, then yesterday ate about 900 calories and didn't want to eat dinner or snack. I had 1 Laughing Cow just because I felt I needed to have something.

I can't wait for my fill and hope I hit my sweet spot first time.

Hi ladies, just want to let you know that I am lurking here and reading everyday. On mushies for three more weeks but am seriously thinking about SB when I can get back on regular food. So keep it up, I learn something everyday.

You seem to be doing great on it.

Audree, where do you order your Quickslim 30?

I don't know how to keep track of calories at all. I guess I need to buy some sort of calorie book. I will check out fitday.

I am getting my first fill on Monday, but I have heard my dr. is not very aggresive with fills. The girl that got banded by him on the same day as me said he hardly put anything in, and she can can still eat whatever she wants. It's will power right now.

Hey there!! Feel free to post anytime! You could probably do South Beach mushies too! tuna, fish, etc. Veggie Soups.

I actually bought my QuickSlim30 from a Chinese herbalist Doctor who I was seeing for weight loss. Surprise I only lost like 12 pounds and gained them back. He is in to all natural things and sold it to me for $60. I am going to order it online at QuickSlim30.com next time because I think it is $49.

Take care!!

Today I ate 2300 calories, so no more restriction for me....

No work out either ;)

But I am running in an 8k race tomorrow. I have never ran an 8k race before and it has been a long time since I did that distance by myself. Wish me luck!

Night all.

Breakfast: 3 egg omlette, with crab and cheese. 3 turkey bacon (about 500 calories)

Lunch: carnitas with melted cheese and salsa

Liquids: 32 ounces of crystal light

Supplements: 1 tbsp. liquid Vitamin, 1 QuickSlim30

How I feel: I think I am premenstrual because when I ate lunch, I kinda felt like I could feel it passing through painfully.

What, if anything, are you eating for dinner/supper??

I have been doing good, staying on plan. My calories are between the 1000-1200 range. Finally got my period after skipping last month.

Heavy cramps so I am not going to exercise for a few days.

How is everyone doin??

I am doing really well. I am still eating 2000-2400 calories. I notice the number is creeping up some now in terms of calories eaten.

No more PBs though. I have figured out I pretty much can't do bread and I am mushy stuff in the morning. I am glad I can't eat bread anymore because I feel like it is wasted calories anyway.

My 8k went okay (5 miles) but I was last. Which is fine. I didn't expect to be first, LOL. I also went mountain biking again. I didn't fall off my bike once so that is an improvement from last week!

I exercise like mad but don't lose weight and that seems to be have remain unchanged. I notice my calories are creeping up a bit. I am glad I am getting my fill next Friday.

Hope everyone else is doing great!

Susan

Susan, you should be very proud of yourself. Running 5 miles is awesome.

:thumbs_up:Who cares what place you came in. That's really an accomplishment running that far! I jog on the treadmill sometimes and the longest I have ever been able to jog is 5 min.

Audree, glad you started. Sorry to hear about cramps. I don't miss that part of it. I haven't had one for 4 years now. I would actually rather have periods though because once you stop them, a whole world of other problems start. That's a whole different subject. :heh:

I got my first fill today. I found out my band holds 5cc's and he put in

1 1/4cc today. I have to be on liquids for 24 hours now. I hope my weight loss picks back up again now that I have some saline in there!:)

Hey!! I am supposed to get my first fill too. I am hoping I get some restriction back. I thought there were only two bands, 4cc and 10cc?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
