No I haven't taken measurements but I've had to buy a smaller bra and I'm wearing jeans now that I couldn't fit before and they're getting lose...I'm just so afraid of going thru all of this and then fail. Seriously afraid of failing:(...is that odd? Its almost as if this is my last chance

That's exactly how I feel too, I think there's probably quite a few of us that feel that way. I am 4 weeks pot op, aged 41 and have lost 32 lbs but that includes the 9 lbs I lost on the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I had an infection less than a week after surgery and had to have an open wound now b/c of that and home care every day, so I haven't really been able to exercise although I feel smaller and my clothes fit a lot bigger.

Hello everyone, my name is Trina. I'm 43 and had RNY Dec 19 2011..to date I've lost 100lbs. I lost my weight slower but I had alot of complications in the beginning. Check out my story in the story section. Its been tough but worth it. Just have to stick with it, work the tool and do the work so the tool works for you. I fall off sometimes but the next day, I get back on track and I stay accountable by attending support groups and speaking at seminars..I can't tell others about how to be successful if I'm not doing what I'm supposed to do..helps me stay motivated.

Hello, me name is Ken and I am a 40 year old (sounds like an addiction meeting introduction).

When I was first married 13 years ago my beautiful Wiff was older than me by 2 years. Now, for some odd reason, I have actually become the older one and older than her by 7 years!!!! Strange how this works.

BTW my surgery date is 26 Dec.

Hello everyone, I am not 40 but I was reading your discussions on Protein Powder, I am having surgery in March and am allergic to whey, have any of you used a whey free Protein that has worked well for you?

I had RNY Feb 2013 and turned 41 this past may. Best thing I've ever done for myself! I'm 5'2 and weighted 222 in a size 20. I'm now 150 and in a size 6. I have a lot of muscle so it weighs more, it's inherited.... But I'm so glad of the choice I made! I feel great! Shot 2 deer last night about 200 yards away from our house and after finding them ran the entire way back to the house! Like RAN! I was out of breath and the cold freezing air made it hard to breath but HEY!!!!

Anyhow! Good luck to all of you in your 40's! It's my new 30 for sure!!

Hello everyone. I'm 46 and waiting for my surgery date. Just wondering how everyone's skin has responded to your weight loss. I see pictures of younger people that loss and look like they were never overweight. However at my age and amount I need to lose I'm sure a lot of loose skin is in my future. I'm 5 5 and weigh 290, would like at get down to at least 150.

Anyone in their 40's out there going through the process of RNY surgery or who have had it. Join right in - would love to hear from you!

Hello, I am in my second month of the required 6 months of medically supervised weight loss......I am 46 and will hopefully have the Bypass before my 47th. I can't wait I really hope I can do this and keep the weight off. So many years of disappointment with attempts at weight loss fingers crossed that these next few months will fly by! ????

Hello,

I just turned forty and will hopefully have my surgery early next year. I'm wondering about loose skin as well. I have approximately 100 pounds to lose. Can anyone let me know if exercise alone will take care of the loose skin or will surgery be required?

Thank you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
