I always start my day with either a Premier Protein shake (30g protein) or a Syntrax nectar chocolate truffle shake made with unsweetened almond milk, 1 tbsp PB2 and 1 tbsp powdered egg whites (37g protein). At some point in the day, I have either 1/2C plain, Greek, no fat Chobani yogurt (18g protein) or 1/2C 1% skim cottage cheese (11g protein). I drink one bottle of coconut Isopure every afternoon (40g protein). If I'm in and out of meetings and can't get to the Isopure, my "go to" is unjury chicken broth (21g protein) or 1 whole egg scrambled with 1 egg white (17g protein).

Some days, I'll eat 1/2 Quest bar. Have you tried those? They come in a variety of flavors. While they appear to be high in carbs, they're actually high Fiber (17-19g), generating only 3-5 net carbs. One whole bar is at least 20g Protein.< /p>

OP, couldn't stomach Protein shakes either and have got to 5 months post op without them.

Fortified milk was a life saver (skimmed milk powder added to milk). At the liquid stage, I drank it, mixed it half and half with my Soup ( I lived on cream of tomato!) and so on. Kept using it through puréed stage and on to soft foods.

I was determined to get my Protein through food. It's easier to hit ur daily protein targets with the shakes but not impossible without them. Imagination and good quality protein will get u there :-)))

Hang in, this phase will pass...

Everything I try hurts after a few seconds in the middle of my chest. Soooo uncomfortable and discouraging. How much longer.....

premier ready to drink shakes have been the only Protein i have been able to drink save for Isopure and i'm almost three weeks out. i can also sometimes stomach the body fortress chocolate Peanut Butter when i'm REALLY craving something sweet. but i love the premier shakes. they go down easy and are small, and still have 30g of protein!

Thank you' date=' thank you for the ideas!!

I am 4 1/2 weeks out and can definitely do powdered milk in my milk! I NEVER would have thought of that! Excellent! I do eat eggs, cheese, meat. I honestly cannot tolerate any Protein Drinks and the Protein Bars are all too sweet AND loaded with carbs! I'm not a carb fanatic but 40 grams in One Bar OMG! Not happening.[/quote']

I can't do the Protein Shakes with milk or anything else at all the only way I've been able to get my Protein in is through smoothies I make a fruit smoothie and add the Protein I hardly notice it much. Hope this helps

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
