Albany, New York....?

Today will be the hardest......emotionally preparing as well as the liquid diet. One more day until your new life begins! Everyone at the hospital is very calming and it goes by so quick once you check in. The power of positive thinking will get you through. Just imagine where you will be in one month, six months and a year from now. Unrecognizable as your former self! The surgery will go smooth, the pain will be less than you imagined and your recovery quick. So excited for you!

Wow, your incisions look great! I'm assuming you went home today. How are you feeling?

Yes got home yesterday and feeling okay for most part. Pain which is expected, and I'm having a problem taking in the right amount of liquids but I'm slowly getting there. I was pretty impressed with my incisions as well, much better then I expected :-) Off to sip and sleep ;-)

I started this Albany section and I've slacked my friends, so sorry. Was sleeved last month, October 7th and I am now down 50 pounds and feel amazing ;-) I'll be posting pictures soon. Glad we got a couple more people. I haven't found the diet to be restricting at all, as I really have no desire for food. I found a great Lemonade (so tired of water) that follows the restrictions that has helped me be . Able to get my liquids down, which I'm doing with no problem. It's Minute Maid LIGHT. 15 calories a glass and sugar is only 2 grams :-) Hope everyone is doing well :-) :-) :-)

Thanks for all of the welcome messages! My surgery will probably be in Cooperstown, because those are the doctors I know and love now for 25 years. The Team Meeting is next week, and if I am approved, then a date plus insurance ok are the last steps.

I anxiously await all stories and suggestions. At age (nearly) 62, the next phase of my health cannot begin soon enough for me. If all goes well, perhaps soon the worst of my arthritis pain will be less. Woohoo!

Thanks for being here, HCB

Holly Clare, I feel the same way. I will be 50 two weeks after my surgery and I feel like I get to write my next chapter. I deserve to enjoy the second half of my life. I have my final cardiology clearance tomorrow. My insurance requires it within 30 days of my surgery (Dec. 11). I haven't been given an actual number of pounds to lose since I'm diabetic and have had a terrible time losing, but I will be rearranging my diet drastically. Low in carbs, higher in Protein, and clean. Onward and downward!

BrickHouse, Rensselaer is just up 797; used to work near there-I am off exit 22 on 87, Selkirk. I doubt that I shall have surgery before December 11th, but please stay in touch. I have a lot of detractors, but am happy for this place and nearby folks and encouragement.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
