Hi Saggij,

No problem, maybe we can meet you up another time. I too am flat out now, just got back from a 2 day IT course....and in 2.5 weeks I have to take an exam for work, so I feel like a human robot at the mo with full time work and study!!

Ive lost 17lbs in total now (it was 3 weeks ago I had the op) still on the mushie stage, but next Monday I can start having proper food again, I think I must be pretty much healed inside now? But am still eating small amounts....

Anyway, take care for now,

Sara xx

Saggij,

No problem, as Sara said maybe we can meet up with you another time! My weight has been all over the place. Despite sticking to 1000 calories I went up 4.5lbs last week. It was just Fluid retention as it disappeared in days. I've now lost 29lbs and have started losing again.

I am just so pleased to of found this Uk Forum.. I have so many questions for now -

I am going to the doctors to ask to be put on the waiting list for Lapband surgery - I live in Bournemouth Dorset and wondered where the closest specialist would be from here and HAVE THEY HAD TONS AND TONS OF experience....LOL.

I am 22 stone 6 lbs <315lbs> .

Has anyone here had to wait on a waiting list for the NHS and if so how long was it ?

Thanks for reading and I look forward to making friends here :car: xxx

Hi Honey,

welcome to the forum, I went private so I can't help you much. I'm sure there are others out there who will know though.

I have to say it was the best decision I ever made.

Kind regards

Suzanne

Hi,

I was surprised to see that there's not a UK specific group, anyone know how to get it started?

I know that a the WLS site has a lot of members but you have to pay :omg: and I'm saving all my money for the op! Anyway, this site is more fun - I find the tickers fascinating!!

Any ideas?? :help:

Tazza

Not sure what you mean by that - there is a UK specific group - that is where you are posting now - UK Local Lap-Band Support

Hi GC53,

Thanks for your observation!! :car: My post that you quoted was made on 21 January 2007 and at the time there was no UK specific area or threads. They created all this in response to my original post.

Hope that clears things up for you :car:

Hello All,

I live in Brighton and am hoping to get my band fitted in May! :crying:

I am really lucky to be getting mine on the NHS, I am having it done @ St Richards in Chichester. They have a specialist unit, I had my consultation in Dec the waiting list is 5 months. The facilities were excellent and I don't think even had I paid to go privately the hospital or staff could be any better! I am just waiting for my appointment letter to come through.

I have told all my friends and family what I am planning to do. My friends have been excellent and a great support but I don't ever think they will ever really understand as none of them have ever really had a weight problem but bless them they are trying really hard! My parents are a bit apprehensive but on the whole not giving me a hard time. I feel really lucky to have been given this opportunity and that I have my friends and family to support me! And also now I have found this forum I can chat to other people who have been there and done that! WICKED!

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble of enthusiasm - but being banded is bloomin hard work, it certainly isn't a magic tool :-(

Well I am pretty sure its a "post code lottery" I went to my doctor and asked him to refer me, originally I was due to have the surgery at Royal Sussex in Brighton and was offered a rather invasive surgery called a "Vertical Gastric Band" which involves stomach staples and a band that is actually part of your stomach and not adjustable. But because I had no other options I agreed. Then turns out the stopped offering this type of surgery at Brighton (just when I was due to have it done!). I was gutted about this at the time but turned out in my favour as I was then given a choice of 3 hospitals and picked St Richards, Its been a long slog mind about 3 years all in.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
