Has anyone ever tried eating food at one week out?

Recommended Posts

Liz...only being just 10 days post op I would really be careful. Your stomach is going to be in its healing stages for a few more weeks now. The liquid stage for post op 2 nd week is still yucky, but don't want real food upsetting the healing.

The 3rd & 4th week includes soft foods and it is still touch and go with me as far as what's going to agree with me. Got thru those weeks and started my NEW NORMAL life today. Figuring foods that have the Protein count I need is getting easier. Stay away form greasy foods, I really pay for those. No throwing up, so sick to stomach, nauseated for hours. Not worth it.

Be patient, after you get to be able to start eating, your weakness and energy will pick up. Remember, during liquid stage keep up with your Protein drinks. They help with energy. Hope this helps. Best of luck...you will do fabulous!!!!

This is an opportunity to get your head in the game. You WANT food, but unless it's on YOUR program, you don't NEED food. Follow the program, friend!

Unless your doc has explicitly allowed it, don't jump the gun on the solid food. You want to give your new stomach time to heal and form scar tissue around the staple line.

I was allowed very runny cream of wheat and oatmeal and just a little bit was very filling and took my hunger away. Always ask your doctor or nut first. Your stomach is healing and you DO NOT want a leak! Best of luck to you. Sleeved 8/26/13.

I am 2 weeks out. I was allowed chicken (chewed well) and puree stuff. I was tired of the Protein Shakes but I was miserable last night and today. I feel excessively full. I wish I could vomit but I cant. No nausea, stomach pains, or fever. The food is stuck. Ive had drinks all day but no food. I think I ate too much and now I am scared about a leak. Over the weekend I ate a few spoons of mashed potatoes and was feeling great. Now I am burping, gassy, and feel stuffed. Back to liquids I go... maybe its not a leak but just ate too much too soon. Also I need to have a bowel movement so I took Fiber gummies.< /p>

Google gastric sleeve diet. Many of the bariatric surgeons have their diet progressions online. Here is a link to one: http://www.northwestobesitysurgery.com/pdf/sleeve-gastrectomy-diet.pdf

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
