Liquids feel like they wont go down...

Recommended Posts

I'm 1.5 weeks post op. I feel like any liquids I drink no matter how slow, get stuck around the bottom of my ribs. This started 3 days ago when I tried some puréed items. I felt like I had a stick in my stomach. My dietician suggested going all liquid or a couple day to clear things out.

The "stick" is gone, but now I'm feeling full or not hungry most of the time. And if I sip anything it feels like it wants to come back up. No nausea. Anyone else?

Derek

For me, it makes a big difference how big the sips are. Are you gulping or taking little sips? This was really hard for me to get used to, and sometimes I still forget... if I'm watching TV or something, I may accidentally take a big gulp of Water, and I definitely feel it in that spot in my ribs.

I never had that particular problem but just keep in mind your body is a healing machine. You should get better everyday and notice you can drink more and eat a little more as time goes on. Just stay hydrated as much as you can. How much Fluid are you getting in ?

Im about 1yr post op and I can remember trying to get in the 60 and it was tough but doable. I would set a timer on my watch to drink 4 oz cup every 10 min. That helped me until the swelling in my sleeve went down.

Also remember when you eat/ drink broth that counts a liquid as well.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
