Approved for Surgery & No one to tell

Recommended Posts

I know

I only told my husband and children also. People argue all the time about "secrets" and "Shame". It has nothing to do with that. The bottom line is, it's nobody's damn business! I don't live my life as an open book so why would i disclose personal medical issues? Also, I don't care to hear people's opinions because most would say I didn't need it...I say walk in my shoes before judging! Believe me, most people I know who freely tell about their weight loss surgery are surrounded by people who claim to be happy for them, yet trash talk them behind their backs!

I'm very excited about the surgery so I tell people all the time and take time to explain why its so important for me to have this, and I've been getting pretty good feedback. But today I told my neighbor while we were having small talk and she really pissed me off with all of her negativity. She started telling me that she lost 100lbs on her own by cutting out beef and pork and how her mom had it done in 96' and she's still real heavy. She was really drilling me!!!! Like it was her sole mission to convince me to not have the surgery. I mean what does me having this done have to do with you!! At that point I told myself I'm done with telling anymore people, I don't have time for the negativity. And I also think one of my best friends is secretly not wanting me to have the sleeve because she's afraid of me getting all of the attention when we go places (now she's getting all of it) and I'm fine with that because getting a lot of attention is one the things that I know I'm going to dread. Back when I was smaller and in shape I used to HATE it when men constantly hit on me. I know it sounds crazy but I am actually enjoying being looked over and ignored LOL, now I have freedom to do things without some man constantly staring and gawking at me. Now I'm getting way off topic, but yes sometimes I believe that other people's negative thoughts can block good things from happening to you. I mean I don't follow that theory to a T, but sometimes I feel its true.

Well let me just say after 2 years, only my healthcare staff knows about it. My lips are sealed. And I meant I didn't tell a soul, not my bf, no sis no one. Yeah they cared for me at the hospital for my gallbladder story! No. Regret and living the life

Thanks....I needed to hear that because I actually told them about the removal of the cyst which is serious and added a little more drama to compensate for how sensitive my belly will be...But in no way am I telling ANY of them about the Sleeve....nope, I don't need the negativity. But I was feeling guilty at first...my mom may be flying in to support me and I started feeling guilty for not telling the ENTIRE tale...but you know what, its nobody's business....its just not. i am so glad i have this site...it really is a huge support system..

You will be fine, my family flew from Florida to take care of me and I keep it a secret. No guilt no shame. It's my business and I don't see how it is important to tell

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
