Can we have even 1 or 2 grams of sugar post op without dumping?

Recommended Posts

The reason I'm asking is that my doctor from Mexico is recommending children's chewable Multi Vitamins and Calcium chews...post op. I cannot seem to find sugar free of either. Both have 1 or 2 grams per serving. Has anyone taken these without dumping? Does anyone know where to find sugar free chews???

Someone else I'll have to newer that's further out then me.. But I don't think dumping is a real problem with the sleeve.. It's more common with gastric bypass..

I can't vouch for others, but I've had sugary "bad" foods, with much much more sugar than that and have never experienced dumping syndrome.

The only time I ate something that sent me running to the bathroom so far is oily, greasy food. Unfortunately I've had tastes of baked goods and frozen yogurt since being sleeved and I tolerate them just fine. I am willing to bet chewable vitamins will be fine. Think of it this way - most brands have less sugar in them than a piece of fruit.< /p>

Children's Vitamins? How does an adult get enough vitamins from those. Bariatric Advantage has sugar-free chewables. They are online. Also, if you are near a Whole Foods, they have a number of sugar-free vitamins.

Dumping syndrome is not associated with the sleeve, because the pylorus valve at the bottom of the stomach is not bypassed.

Gastric Bypass surgery bypasses the pylorus valve when the small intestine is rerouted to the new stomach pouch. Without the pylorus valve, food can move unregulated from the stomach into the small intestine.

Actually, ALL stomache surgeries can lead to dumping syndrome. My mother has an Colostomy and has had many dumping experiences over the years.

There's a lady on u -tube who talks about having dumping syndrome (sleeved) after eating a small Wendy's frosty. And I've heard a few others mention it too. I realize that it's more common with bypass, but unfortunatley sleevers are not exempt. It sounds like a gram or two wont do it though. Thankfully.

My doctors have advised that the sleeve does not encounter the dumping syndrome. They of course want you to stay away from sugars and carbs but it's that's in order to lose weight. I already have other stomach problems and that's one of the reasons I picked the sleeve over the band or the original gastric bypass. Another form of Vitamins if you're interested, minor called Bariatric Fusion You can look online for those as well. From what my nutritionist said, you can't just take a regular Multivitamin. There's other vitamins that you need as well.

My NUT recommends using Flintstones Complete - and I've read the same recommendations in some of the books I bought, even for gastric bypass. They actually need to take 2 a day.

I guess it just depends on the doctor. I had to buy these Vitamins made by a company called "fusion"… My doctors office sells them to make it easier. They don't up charge it or anything – I checked them out on the website. But they are a bit pricey but if it's what I want to do for now then, I will follow it. The nutritionist said that after the surgery, we can work on and figure out the most cost-efficient way for me to do it. I've been taking a prenatal Vitamin for quite a long time – my doctor prescribed it so, I'll have to be off of it for a while and onto the bariatric ones.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
