When does sipping get easier?

When does sipping get easier?? I am about 72 hours out from surgery and in still having a ton of trouble sipping! I'm trying to shove as many liquids down my throat as I can but then my tummy gets angry! Im not calculating how many ounces im getting per day yet but im going go guess about 25-40 oz is all im managing. I've heard that it does get better. How long did it take to get easier for you? As a former gulper this is a big issue for me!!

I'm a gulper. I'm one month out today' date=' and I use a "sippy cup" most of the time. Protein shakes I can drink in a regular cup because they're thicker. I can't handle more then about 1 1/2 teaspoons at a time without feeling it when I swallow.[/quote']

Thank you so much for the sippy cup idea! I was having a terrible time getting liquids down, but since I got the sippy cup, it's been so easy!! Highly recommend the sippy cup method.
