I am approved by insurance for a Tummy Tuck, Lipo and panniculectomy!!! I NEVER in a million years expected insurance would approve, even the nurse at the dr.'s office was surprised! And....it was approved the FIRST time!! I at least thought I would have to appeal. I think it helped that I got a referral from my pain management dr, due to the back/neck issues. Plus, I wrote about how many medical problems are resolved, since the weight loss and how important exercise is in keeping it off. Also put that I am limited in my exercise options, due to other problems, and riding the recumbant bike, is pretty much my only option now, but....the pannis sits on top of my thighs making THAT difficult. SOOOOO, the stars aligned and the request landed on the right person's desk and I am approved!! Also thought that would only approve panniculectomy, but....approval has codes for lipo AND TT!! WOOHOO!!! SOOO excited!!

Wow! Congrats! I wish my insurance paid for my TT and Lipo. My apron isn't big enuf to cause any medical problems however. And the lipo is just for show, I guess. I got an estimate from a cosmetic surgeon about 9 mths ago when I was about 25 lbs from goal (now I'm 26 lbs again from goal, have lost 18 lbs since my band to sleeve revision) and she estimated: $6,500 for the TT, $2500 for the under the chin lip (I have a blob of fat that never goes away), and $4000 for back fat lip. If I get 2 in the same day (she won't do all 3), I can get 50% off the cheaper one. I can't even dream of the day when I'll have that kind of money...

Good luck and again, congrats!

Congrats! I am still waiting on mine. The insurance company is dragging their feet (as usual.) It has been close to 3 months.

Tell me about it,all that money could buy a car. I'm still a long ways off from needing surgery for lipo, tt, and etc but I 'm sure I will never have enough money saved in a million years .

maybe give them a call. They should've let you know one way or the other within 6 weeks. Maybe the dr. didn't submit yet?

Kudos to you!!! What is your insurance?? How far out from your surgery are you? Was there a certain amount of time that must pass before you have an even remote chance of consideration ex: Have you proven you are successful at "keeping" it off"?

Blue cross Mediblue Select. Had to be 18 months post-op (I am 19 months, and normal BMI since Dec, 2012) and have 3 months at a normal BMI.

If you go to your ins. website, you can search for criteria for panniculectomy, as all are different.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
