The Sleeve long term

Recommended Posts

As I am in my final stages of choosing Doctor in Mexico I can't help but get cold feet a little. I have no doubt that thus surgery is for me and will change my life

Has anyone had the sleeve over a year ago?

Here are my questions......

Has anyone passed all the leak tests and later on found they had a leak?

Can you really eat anything you want after your stomach heals but in very small portions. I want to change my eating habits. I need to. I would just hate to miss out on eating small portions of good food on e in awhile. Vacations ect. I am a foodie.

Does anyone feel after one year that they made a mistake?

Please! I want to hear it all. Good and bad. Thank you!!!

I am 10 months out. Yes there is a very very small chance of a leak which is usually out of your control. I think the stats are 1%. Personally I have had no issues except a few gallbladder attacks from losing weight too quickly - which a lot of us unfortunately have to deal with.

I can eat and drink whatever with no issues including alcohol it is the same for me as before. I have not experienced any form of dumping. So I still have my "treat" days. Weddings, parties etc. I am at first goal now of a normal BMI for the first time in my life and of course I have no regrets!

My only concern now is maintenance and keeping vigilant about regain etc.

Goodluck with your surgery and decision :)

Leaks are possible, however unlikely. your surgeon will educate you on warning signs. Try not to worry about that...

I'm more than 2 years out. I can eat and drink everything/ anything I want. I'd guess 98% of us can. Don't worry about that either! I chose to make good choices usually...but can enjoy a slice of pizza and a beer on Friday night with my boyfriend, or splurge on a cupcake at work when a coworker has a bday.

All in all getting sleeved was the best thing I have ever done for myself!

I was sleeved in June, I had my surgery in the Dominican Republic, but my doctor came from Miami to perform the surgery. I had the band before and it really hurt me more than it helped. I had no complications and I'm able to eat anything and everything, but I try to make healthier choices. Well yesterday I jumped the wagon I ate eve a half of a red velvet cupcake ????

I've stalled now for over a month and someone told me to add more calorie for one or two days to jump start my body. I'm hoping this works and I don't end up gaining weight.

GOOD LUCK!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
