Hey Meredith, This site is really bad for spammers! It looks like our particular section of the board gets all the porn posts as well!:) No other forum I belong to has this problem, so I don't know why they can't fix it.

I am not going to exercise today because I am just not well enough and it may actually be counter productive.:(

Hope you are keeping nice and roasty toasty warm like I am.

My nose is running like Niagra Falls! :biggrin1:

I haven't done any exercise for a few days. I've just not felt up to it either. I think we both need to jsut give our bodies a change to heal and get better. I think if I went for a run, my nose would be running the whole time! I'm keeping warm - hope you are too!!

And yeah the spam sucks! If we wanted to look at porn, we'd go find it ourselves!! Grrrrrrrr!

Hi Girls... sorry to hear some of you are feeling unwell. Hope you get better soon.

I recieved an email from Loretta..... she hasnt posted lately due to being busy with work and the lucky girl is going on a 12 day cruise this week. She said to say a big 'hello' to you all.

I worked all over easter and ive picked up an extra shift this afternoon. The rest of the week im going to have off.

Ive noticed some more kilo's coming off for you Susannah.... well done. Im at a real standstill at the moment but i really need to increase the excersise. Im due for a fill on 4th may so i hope that does the trick.

Hey All, Meredith good to hear your mum's surgery went well. I remember after I was done and the nurses were trying to get me out of bed to walk the following morning. I was like '' I just want to lay down here and not move and be in a painfree bubble please!'' Just moving ached.

I hope your mum will feel better really fast. You guys are keeping your surgeon in a job I reckon! LOL;)

Sorry to hear about the horsepills too.:) Hopefully they will do the trick.

I still feel atrocious! I forced myself to exercise tonight reasoning that all the sweating should get the toxins out of my body. I am not a happy camper.

Bronnie how are you? Did you have a good easter? Most of the banding girls I met said they were going to have a few little eggies over Easter. You have to have some pleasure in life I guess.

Susannah

Gee Susie, you're such a trooper exercising when you are sick, you put lazy old me to shame! i'm going to try to get back to it tomorrow, but I'll have to see if my ears are all funny still, my balance has been a bit out of whack with the sinus thing I have!

Hey Mez, Believe me I didn't want to exercise, but I knew how hard it would be to have missed a few days of it and to have to do it again. It is like starting from scratch again.:) I hate exercising, but I like losing weight, so I force myself.:( Susannah

Great to have you join us Paul. There are a lot of banded men about but they seem a bit shy to post so maybe you might encourage them to "out themselves". enjoy the mushies - soggy weekbox has never tasted so good when you have been on liquids for a week or so, enjoy!!!

Well today is my first day for my 2 week Optifast pre op diet, just had my first shake and it wasn't bad. I have done optifast a couple of years ago and got used to it for a while.

Im sorry to hear that a few of you arent feeling to well, hope you all feel better soon

Hey Christie, Optifast was not too bad for me either. I did a three week pre op course of it in January which was easier because being summer I was not really craving heavy foor etc. Good luck with it. This will be the best decision you have ever made, mark my words.

Hi everybody else! Are we all hibernating already pre winter?! I like colder weather because you can take nice hot baths, and put your electric blanket on etc.

I am fine. I am going in for a fill next Tuesday and I might ask them to put a slightly larger fill in. I don't feel very restricted with the 2.5mls in my band that I currently have. Oh the elusive sweet spot!

Tomorrow is Friday. Yipee!

Hi guys

I have jsut been catching up with all the posts, I have not been around much recently infact I have jsut come out of hospital again ( 4th stay in the past month!) I am having a flare of my MS and it is turning out to be the worst attack I have had. I love the support from these boards but jsut do not have the energy to function at the computer. the good think s that I am dropping weight pretty quickly thanks to vertigo induced nausea I am now only about 1 1/2 pounds away from going under the 300pound mark for the first time in close to a decade- guess there is always a positive side to everything. I have been blubbering so much recently too, i can't believe it I jsut cry for now reason, my Doc thinks its from the high dose steroids, i hope he isright becuase that means this feeling should pass soon- i hate not feeling in control.

Sorry to hear that a few of you are not feeling well too, sounds like the cold and flu season is kicking in a bit earlier this year! I really hope that this post finds you all starting to feel a bt better and brighter. take care of yourselves

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
