Hi... I have a 6yo daughter who has additional needs and has just commenced first year at school. I have heard that Victoria has much better support for children. i know of others that have moved from QLD to Victoria for this reason. Tara has a great paediatrician here and i suggest that you do some homework and for his sake moving back to Melbourne could be a good idea.

As for me.... Optifast hasnt been a great success . i was strong for a week but as the op gets closer ive been a bit naughty. Oh well... considering i didnt have to go on it at all, i think i was pretty good. I am going to go on it strictly for the whole week prior just to prepare myself for the liquid phase.... im getting myself prepared mentally at the moment. Im a bit scared but excited.

the only suggestions I have re other liquid choices is home made Soups, you can make much more liquidy versions of things like bolognese sauce or mld curries- just make them so that they are mainly liquid and depending what stage you are up to, you need to vitamise them- it is a frustrating stage of the diet- you just start craving anything that has some texture or crunch! it will get better though.

Can't help much re the other issue though, I am not a parent and don't have much paeds experience- from what I have observed from friends with kids though, it seems like the degree of support available can vary considerably from school to school in this state (SA). It would be worth doing so research through dept education and/or dept human services to see what is meant to be available, what sort of waiting times etc exist. I know it is a very frustrating problem to deal with!

So I have partly been assessing my weight loss success on how it has been noticed by people - as Jacqui said a while back, the more you lose and the smaller you get the more noticable each kilo of loss is.

Last week I had to go into the city for a meeting with some colleagues and we bumped into a girl who worked with us until around October last year. I was just now chatting to one of the people who was there and she said that she had seen that girl since last week and she had mentioned to her that I was looking "amazing"! Woo me! :clap2: Thats exactly what I needed to hear today, I was having a bit of a down day. Isn't it funny how what other people see and notice about us affects us so much.....

LOTTO

Hello, My name is Barry Salzman. One day I woke at in the morning and became a millionaire, real millionaire. I’m a lotto player and I’ve been playing lotto for several years. And I got my lucky ticket. I had some luck and matched 4+1 numbers to win a $10,000 Powerball prize my wife and I had purchased at a northern Arizona cafe, Rosie's Den on Highway 93.

Just days after winning $10,000 with a ticket bought at a northern Arizona cafe, my wife and I traveled to Phoenix to collect our winnings and ended up buying another ticket from the Arizona Lottery office. It just happened to be the $15 million jackpot winner.Of course I don't believe it; I just don't believe it happened. I work in real estate investment. I crossed the Nevada-Arizona state line to purchase this $10,000 winning ticket from Rosie's Den, located on the state Highway 93. Nevada does not participate in the Powerball lottery, and I would usually purchase a Powerball ticket in Arizona whenever the jackpot amount was high, such as that weekend when the amount reached $240 million.

This money gives us tremendous security. We plan on giving our daughter her first house and helping our son get started with his computer company, and also giving money to charities and paying off our house.

The only thing I can tell you my friends – YOU CAN'T WIN IF YOU DON”T PLAY.

LOTTO

To fill or not to fill? That's the question isnt it?

I made an appointment for Thursday arvo, I so want to get another 7kg off and I will be DONE!

But I'm afraid of being too tight. I know a few wiser food choices and bit less packing in things round the sides - a choccie here, a biscuit there and it would probably come off without me needing to go tighter. I'm really debating whether to cancel the appointment or not. We went to dinner at SIL's on Sunday and dinner was torture, I really had to eat very carefully. I'm not often like that, but even rarely is enough, I dont want to face that all the time. But it may be just what I need to get to goal and then I can have some fill out to maintain. Hmmmm. I cant decide.

We're also on tenterhooks because Fraser sat the Haileybury scholarship exam on Saturday. I'd so love for him to get the opportunity to go to a school like that. He and Ewan have both been enrolled since birth (Doug went there) but sheesh, we have 3 children to educate and at 20grand a year its not likely to happen without help. We have to wait till April to find out how he did. He's a pretty smart cookie, but probably not smart enough to beat 300 other students to the prize. I'm so proud of him for having a go though.

Hey I finally have a ticker. Thank you so much blytheswideshut for your brilliant explanation how to get a ticket. I am the queen of computer dummies and your explanation worked fine first time!!!

Just wanting to say hi to you all, it has been a while since I posted but I do grab a few minutes most days to have a read of your postings.

To all those thinking of being banded - dont think any longer do something about it. it is the best decision i have made for me in my life and i am sure all the other post bandits would say the same.

I am heading off now for my swimming lesson!! something I always wanted to learn to swim but would never at my weight but a whole new world has oppened up for me.

dionnem - Great to hear you are healing up well. Sorry that I can't offer you any advice about your child, as it's beyond my experience with parenting, but I'm sending you a hug anyway.

Jacqui - Good luck for Fraser, and good on him for having a go at the exam!

I also have a fill scheduled for Thursday (morning). Bit of a bummer that Thursday's our 10th wedding anniversary, so no nice dinner. Oh well, at least champagne is a liquid! LOL! I am hoping for a little more fill to kick me along a bit, but don't want to be too tight. I feel like my restriction is almost at the sweet spot that everyone talks about, maybe I am already there now. I don't know, I think the only way I can find out is to get a bit more and see how it goes.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Mulgrave bandsters at Bandworks tonight. 6:30pm for the walk, or 7pm for the meeting.

Thanks! :)

haha - yea, we moved from Richmond, to Williamstown and after 3 years in Willy, the reason we moved back inner city was because of the commute. We both complained DAILY about the drive and how we wasted on average 3 hours/day in driving. I don't know what we're thinking moving that far out LOL, but I do love Eltham cause of the greenery and the fact that we'll finally have a back yard (with pool for these awful summer days we've been having lol).

I've already told David though that I plan on working from home several days per week. Guess I'm lucky that I have that flexibility in my job. Jaz will still be going to school in Kew, but there's school bus that picks up and drops off at the Eltham station.

I'd love to have a bandsters get together after we get settled in though, if anyone's interested in catching up.

Hi Jess! Great to see you back around here! We've missed you - I thought you were still swanning around the Maldives, but you have been a busy little real estate mogul. LOL! Congratulations on buying your house. Working from home is the way to go - I live in Aspendale and work in Abbotsford, which takes about 2 to 3 hrs driving per day, sometimes more if there is bad traffic. I am negotiating a deal with my employer to work at home for two days a week. I will have to go in on my third day. You might be lucky enough to work for yourself, but if you have to negotiate with an employer, I've got some great tips having just gone through the process, and found a great template for a written proposal online. Send me an email or PM if you'd like to know more.

Cheers!

A.

Hey Tarajane

I'm glad you got a ticker for yourself, they are so cute...

Yay for swimming - despite it being wonderful exercise for everyone of any size/shape/age/fitness level - we tend to keep away from it when we're big... it's great to hear that you feel ready to learn to swim - you go girl!

Hi Everyone, An update on the bill. They called me to tell me that they had made a mistake on charging me the extra $300. Yay! I was like a dog with a bone and was not about to pay up the money!:)

I am doing ok, I have been working a lot. I am finding it harder than I did ten years ago that's for sure.

Do bandsters get used to feeling weak and tired from minimal intake of food? Do our bodies get used to it?

Bronnie, OMG your getting done next week girl!!! Wowie.:biggrin1:

I hope you are all well and I miss reading your posts when I have to work so much.

Susannah

Hi Bronnie,

One week to go ... one week to go!!! You must be so excited... Hows it all going. I didn't stick to the pre-op diet, I just changed my choices and ate low fat and has shakes at least once a day. My op went fine but I must admit I was stressing about it the night b4 wondering if I'd be ok. You'll be fine especially if he didn't advise you to do the Optifast to begin with.

I'm doing better can't wait for mushies and some texture I don't think I'll ever eat ice-cream, kelly, custard or yogurt again.!!!!!!

Susannah what sort of stuff did you eat for mushies and did you wait the 14 days to start them????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
