Burping 1 day post-op - feels like I'm going to vomit all the time?

I'm trying to get my fluids in but every time I drink something, even just a swallow, I get a feeling like i have to burp and it feels like I'm going to throw up. Is this normal? Does it go away? (I am trying to walk and I'm taking a PPI prescribed by my doctor - hoping that may help).

Bottom line is that I'm obsessed with figuring out what is normal and what is a sign for concern.

Thanks!

Every sip of Water this soon feels bad and weird. I felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest each time I took a sip. I also burped with every sip. Totally normal. Just sip slowly but consistently. Each day, the liquid goes down easier.

Sip. Your swallows are too big. I am 3 months post op and I still can't take a full swallow of liquid without a thick pain in my chest followed by a need to burp. When I do, a bit of liquid comes back up. If I sip, there is no problem. Now, I can only sip a few ounces at a time, then I have to give it a few minutes before I do it again.

I am slower than most in my progress, so hopefully you will not be where I am at three months out. That said, what you are describing is too big of gulps, IMO. :D
