An Emotional Mess

Recommended Posts

IDK what my problem is!! almost everything makes me want to tear up. I get very touchy when anyone complains about anything I do/don't do. I do have a lot going on. Looking for a teaching job, moving... so idk... just stressed. Anyone else?

I will be 2 months post op on August 26. Starting weight 207 and now 178.

moist of us.

Tell us where you "are" in terms of the program. AND in the preop diet through (at least) the first month strange hormones, fatigues, healing, regret, and life often make us ALL a mess in our special way.

Where are you relative to your surgery? I'm 3 weeks post op and am a small mess. Depressed, lethargic, fortunately have been spared the sensitivity, because my husband who got sleeved the same day has enough of that right now for both of us :) yeah that happens to all of us I think. Pre-surgery, the stress of all of it plus the lack of calories will do it, post surgery the hormones in the fat we are losing will do it. ((Hugs))

My mood is all over the place. I fell like there are five different people inside and they take turns in my brain. So much to deal with, thinking about the surgery, the proces of getting it, then the actual surgery and now learning a new life and relationship with food. Not having food for an emotional crutch. Now the change is body image. its a lot for a normal brain to accept. at least it has been for me.

my dear wife has been stellar and so far i dont think she has contacted a lawyer. ;)

I am not sure where you are in your weight loss journey, but even without that you have two of the biggest stress factors already occurring. Looking for a job and moving. This site rates stress factors in people's lives http://www.mindtools...e/newTCS_82.htm

It is easy to get upset and take things personally when you have a lot going on. Try to relax, take deep breaths and take control of the things you can. For things beyond your control, try and determine what your plan will be if it goes one way versus a different path. For example, I don't know if you are moving into a completely different area, but if you are, it is difficult to know how much you can afford etc until you know where your job will be and your income. This knowledge would help alleviate a lot of stress on you and help you make a more informed decision on where you move. You would know the location of your job, income and be able to better determine where you move and the amount you can afford for your rent or mortgage payment. Sometimes I find it helpful to write things down to get a clearer picture of all the issues and decision choices.

I hope this helps you and good luck.

Good luck

Hugs to you. Things will get better when your hormones level out, when your body adjusts to all the changes it is enduring, when your life settles back into a regular routine. Until then, hold on tight and enjoy the journey you are on to the best of your ability! Your progress is phenomenal. Take the time to sit back and marvel at your success.

I will be 2 months post op on August 26. Pre op started out at 207, that was 1 week 1200 calorie and day before all liquids. Day of surgery I weighed 198 and now weigh 178.

I never really followed the post op diet, as I tried chicken about 2 weeks out. I never did the puree thing, I just chewed really well. Nothing that I eat really bothers my sleeve, but I do have a problem with sometimes eating too much/fast.

I'm not too happy sometimes... with my life/situation, not exactly the sleeve but my move is without my "man" of 17 years. As I mentioned, my emotions are all over the place n i'm leaving him...long story n he is here laying next to me so i'm not gonna get too in to it right now, but stay tuned lol.

Thank you all for your concern!

You are very lucky that you both did the surgery together! I feel like my relationship is taking a toll because a big part of us (enjoying food) has been taken away :( Thanks for the kind words!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
