Does anything know about death in Mexico.

Recommended Posts

I am on another forum for bariatric surgery. I saw a few posts about a person dying after/during surgery but there was no details. I would rather not mention the doctor.

We all know there is risk in surgery. Any surgery. I just wanted to know if this is for sure true and what was the cause.

Regardless I am having mine

It happens everywhere, not just Mexico. There's info on VSG deaths all over the web. Stories about blood clots and surgical error. It's always a possibility but it's still safer than driving a car! ;)

I totally agree but I am curious if this is true

If what is true? That someone died at some unspecified time with an unspecified doctor in an unspecified location in Mexico?

Probably.

Sorry not trying to be rude, I don't understand the question.

Girl... Ummm yes there have been several deaths there in the last couple of weeks...

Really it happens how can it not with the sheer amount of surgeries that happen.

Gamergirl, I just want to know if anyone is aware that a woman died 2 weeks ago after the surgery in Mexico. Gastric sleeve.com has a thread on it. I tend to read this one more.

I am planning to have surgery in Mexico and would like to know all facts. The good, bad and ugly.

Hi Laura Ven, I read about a woman named Roxanne. I truly hate to mention Doctor. Of course there is a risk. I

Do not wish to harm someone's reputation. You said a few in the past weeks. Wow. Do you know the details ?

I dont have any idea of whether or not this happened, but I would like to offer some unsolicited advice. If you are getting your surgery anyway, dont bother looking for any additional information, it will only worry you. I read the complications boards on here and almost gave myself a panic attack leading up to the surgery, and for what? I was going to do what I was going to do. I understand making an informed decision and knowing all the facts but you said that you have already made your decision so at this point Im not sure more information will be a good thing.

I think the last poster is right. Things happen but we know that going in.

She had things wrong with her going into surgery.

She was denied surgery in the USA because of a heart condition. She somehow managed to leave these details out of her application to the

surgeon in Mexico. I liked Rox, and I'm sorry she is gone.

I do agree however I like to know all facts. I know there ate risks and I am

Willing to roll dice but I still would like to know all facts. Several recent deaths does concern me and I would like to know more. Not for nothing, I would like to say a prayer.

Thank you for suggestion. It is a good one

Laura-ven is right. I spoke with the doctor's office directly, right after it happened. She had a heart condition and didn't disclose it to the doctor, knowing she'd be turned down again. It's tragic, but was not a complication that most of us would face. Her situation was very different.

And I also want to say I think the doctor was not at fault.

Was the heart condition something that wouldn't be picked up in the pre-op work that's done in Mexico? Or do they not do the same pre-op work that is typically done here?

I will say I was brutally honest on my paperwork to my doc. I figure now is not the time to hold anything back. Might just be since I've never had surgery and the unknown scares me.

Same question, really... I wonder if the clinics in Mexico have doctors with other specializations handy while doing surgeries... Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, etc, just in case something comes up. Anyone know? First thing that I would ask before having the operation there. I suppose if this person had a heart issue, going to Mexico and lying about it is one thing... but what if she had an underlying heart issue that she was unaware of that caused the fatality? There is a good reason why the doctors in the US make you have these tests pre-op, aside from insurance clearance. Do the clinics require pre operative work at all? Ultrasound, echocardiogram, stress test, endoscopy, CT scan, anything? Just curious. I would think they would need at least some facts before going in, not just taking people's word for it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
