Honest opinion...how does this look?

Recommended Posts

I was out shopping at HomeGoods today looking for some home decor and stumbled past this dress that I looked looked cute on the hanger...but they only had a size 12, but I thought "what the hell, try it on"...I thought it looked cute and I bought it...but now I'm thinking I might have been a little heady about the size and it might not be a keeper...asking for honest feedback :-)

OK honestly I think it is a really cute dress. Is it perfect? no, but it is really really REALLY close. I would not tell you to take it back!!! The lines on it are very flattering, the way it curves on your hips and waist is very flattering. I would honestly say you are very close to it being a perfect fit and is something you need to keep in your closet!

Thanks...I think I'll tuck it away and see what it looks like in 10 pounds or so :-)

I think it looks awesome! Definitely a keeper. The way the lines curve at the waist is very flattering, and it hugs you in all the RIGHT places. I think it looks great now, and will look even better later.

Looks good to me, you look like a curvy girl, fits well, keep it, it will look even better later on.

In my honest opinion, the style of the dress is cute on you. But for me I hate stripes so no, I wouldn't wear it. If you like it, rock those stripes!

Don't take it back. I think it looks good right now but a few more pounds down and you will rock it even more.

Thanks, all!!...considering that I am 40 pounds away from where I would expect to wear a size 12, I'll keep it and hope that in another month I'll rock it!

JensJoy - as a vet (3 yrs July), let me give you a little free advice: don't let yourself fall into the trap of rewarding Future You, it sets you up to feel like what you have accomplished is never good enough, which will lead to the boomerang effect of giving up before you reach goal, because you are never rewarding Present You and so you feel like you aren't accomplishing anything. Trust me, it's a real thing. Don't hide that dress away, wear it now with a Spanx bodysuit underneath like Lipstick said. I would also recommend some really bright red flat sandals and a BIG sunhat and sunglasses, for the total glamourpuss look ;)

I find having goal clothes very inspirational. I have a few items I try on weekly and I Celebrate as they get closer and closer to fitting. I will say, I've wasted a few bucks this way, though. I've had a few pairs of pants that went from tight to weirdly baggy as they weren't the right cut and a dress that hung weird once it fit.

I am extremely goal oriented and competitive so "rewarding future me" is something that works for me. I am not one that gets down on myself and when I am having a blue moment, I shake it off quickly. I no longer reward myself with food, so buying a few pretty things is going to have to do. I do leave the tags on now, though!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
