trying to change my inner voice

Recommended Posts

I have been full of regret and anxiety and wondering if I made the right choice....

I am 8 days out from surgery and I have been suffering through. No major problems just sore and sad and anxious... But I decided that I should be thankful. I chose this and I need to make the best of it. So I am trying to change my inner voice to things like

You can and are doing this

You are stronger than you think

You do not need food to be social

You can have fun still

There is no attack so just relax.

I have also been trying to calm myself with deep breathing. And trying to get back to my old routine...

Doing better with liquids and Protein. Trying to get my calories up a bit too.

5'11"

Highest weight 322

Pre op weight 307

Surgery weight 296

Current weight 280

There you go! Attitude is key here! I can change my whole day depending on my mood. I'm glad you are taking the time to look at your inner voice and change it to something more positive.

The first week is hard for sure. But the difference between success and "regret" is attitude!

You have so much to be happy and thankful for.

I feel BLESSED yep blessed that I was given this opportunity! Corny I know but hey..

Be strong and happy for you and your son that is to young to be worrying about his mom.

The one thing that is true from the start is that it really does gets a little easier every single day, every single week, and every single month. Just trust the process.

Thanks for sharing this, I have been working on my outlook few days ever since I got my date (9/9/13) This is a journey and I have to accept my new lifestyle and master it! It wont be easy every step of the way... but I have already told my inner voice to shut up, being a negative Nellie and change to a positive Pammie!! LOL I already have enough people in my space that will share their negative thoughts on my decision. Which is why I have already told those people so they can get it out the way now and not post-op when I will be full of emotions! Good luck to you and continued success.

You're smart to work on that pesky inner voice. And Jmarie is SO right - it does get easier every single day. 8 days from now you'll be in an entirely different place than you are today. The positive self-talk you'll still have to do, but it will be less of a conscious thing because you've begun to change it to the the loudest voice.

Keep up the good work, we are all here to support you in this journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
