All I know is I'm taking 10,000 mcgs daily of Biotin & I'm growing an impressive beard & having to shave my legs more often!

I'm 12 weeks out and noticing more hair on my brush. BUT I am also noticing that I am a size 14 instead of a size 1X. It could be that I am just looking for it - but if its going to happen, its just going to happen. My mom lost ALL of her hair during chemotherapy, including her eyebrows - and STILL had to shave her legs! So I know it could always be worse! ;)

Thanks Fiddleman. I was just wondering because I have thin hair already. I take Biotin.. I'm scared.

I was told that almost everyone will experience some Hair loss. I was also told to take Biotin. I picked it up at Walmart in the Vitamin section. I take the 5000. It's good for hair and nails. Good luck, it will grow back after your body reaches its balance.

If you are looking for a really high quality molecularly distilled Omega 3, I recommend Super Omega 3 by stronger, faster, healthier:

http://www.sfh.com/products/omega_3-oil/10oz_so3_omega-3_oil

It is very good and can be taken 1 tsp at a time for 3100 EPA and DHA (compared to standard 350 EPA at grocery stores). It comes in many different flavors, mint being my favorite. It is kind of pricey at 59.99 for 10 oz (lasts forever though).

It is so good my cross fit box just started selling it to help athletes recover from inflammation fast. If Omega 3 helps with hair retention, then super omega 3 should make your hair salon perfect. :)

I started losing hair around the 3 month mark. I am now at 4.5 months and still losing hair. Not too worried - I am not bald yet. And I trust it will all come back, as others have said. Figure I may invest in a couple of cute hats if it gets too bad!

I started loosing at week 3...I lost 20lbs pre-op and I'm a lightweight. Only 40 more lbs to goal (normal BMI) and I'm not yet 2 months post-op. I cut my hair over 9"off Sunday.

I lost mine............about 10 years before my sleeve. :P I went bald fairly early in life and just tried to beat nature to the punch and started shaving it about 10-11 years ago. I never really noticed losing hair on other parts of the body though....but my head was a non-factor.

When I was three months out, I hadn't lost any hair.... I started losing it at four months.. one day, It just came out in fistfuls in the shower. The shedding episode lasted a few days and has been ok since. I'm HOPING this was the only hairloss I'll experience but my understanding is that months 4-6 are worst months for hairloss. I have extremely thin and fine hair so every strand is precious to me I take fish oil daily for health reasons and also my multi has the recommended dose of Biotin for bariatric patients... but still the hairloss started.. not EVERYONE will lose hair... but don't breathe easy until you've passed month 6...

I started losing mine pretty really. By the time I was 3 months out, I had already lost 50% of the volume of my hair, which was already fine/thin to begin with. Recently, I've noticed a lot of baby hairs giving me a fuzzy halo, and that gives me hope for quick regrowth!

Yup - everyone. You can take all the Biotin you want, eat all the Protein you can and take all the Vitamins you can swallow, but it will still fall out. Month 3-6 are the heavy shedding months. Most people stop losing after that. The hair that falls out is usually the dead or weaker hair follicles. Do not worry. It is just a phase. Your hair will be stronger, longer and more beautiful by month 9.

Yes, thank you for the realistic post right up front! And I also thought I'd avoid losing because I hadn't lost a strand by month three but I lost a mini-wookie nearly every day months 4-6 post op before it tapered off and stopped.

I will say that my hair got much better, but truth be told it never did go back to where it was prior to surgery. I guess that diet full of fats was really helping my hair be luxurious and shiny more than I realized. No need to stress much about it, though. By about a year out you couldn't tell I'd really lost all that much.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
