I am wondering how r u guys doing as far as the pre op diet. I am on a 30 days pre op diet;

· Two 8 oz. glasses of skim or soymilk milk, mixed with Protein Powder per day

· I can have three meals a day, which can include

o
½ cup of cottage cheese, non-fat ricotta cheese or non-fat, sugar free yogurt

o
2-3 oz. of Water packed tuna, salmon, lean chicken, turkey or tofu

o
Non-starchy vegies (raw, steamed, boiled or sautéed in 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil).

Since my doc requested a 5lbs weight loss prior to surgery, as during this first week I am taking the carbs away not all at once. Seems like 30 days on this diet would be too much. So here is what I am doing. No rice, bread, Pasta, Beans, potato, no starch. Lots of salad and Protein, some oat meal, Protein Bars and fruits in general. I am planning to reduce the carbs even more next week … and the last 2 weeks go on the diet 100%.

What do you guys think??

Hi there! Your 30 days sounds wonderful compared to mine.....I'm on 30 days full liquids. (Two weeks in) Cottage cheese is as solid as it gets for me. You can do that easy peasy. Good luck :)

Hmmm, how bout that! Do you recall if your surgeopn said:

-- I want you to lose at least 5 pounds, or

-- I want you to lose exactly 5 pounds, or

-- I want you to lose no more than 5#?

Betting it was the first. If so, cutting off carbs entirely might help. At least for me, carbs make me hungry, but folks are different...

She said at least 5 pounds ... in reality carbs make me hungrier for more carbs. I am trying to figure out how to take it from my diet without being miserable :(

But, why shouldn't she feel bad? And why shouldn't you? Trust me, after surgery you will need to change your eating OR (1) you won't feel good, OR (2) you'll "beat the sleeve" and regain all the weight. The sleeve is not magical. It's all you, and especially your head.

Good Luck!!!

My pre op diet starts Saturday and surgery is next Friday August 30th. My pre op diet consist of 2-3 Protein Shakes a day and a lean or large salad for dinner. My doctor isn't concerned about weight loss for me, he just wants me to shrink my liver. I have a BMI of 35, so that may be why. I went to one of the better buffets tonight. After my surgery, I will be changing my eating habits to have the best results from the sleeve and just to live a healthier lifestyle. I think of it like eating more quality food, than quantity of food. I can't see myself going to buffets post sleeve when I will be eating like a turtle. Good luck to everyone who is preparing for their sleeve. This is such an amazing opportunity!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
