Highly offended by the ladies of "The View"

Hello All,

I was watching the View today and Rosie and Joy were doing a segment on women who had lost a lot of weight by diet & exercise. I thought "Good for them!" they did it; but I was offended when Rosie and Joy kept making comments about surgery being "the easy way out" (actual quote from Joy). I know that a lot of people think this but its just wrong. Those of us who had surgery go through so much! Not only do we endure the diet and exercise that they do, but we go through the pain and recovery of surgery. I thought "how dare they assume its easy!" I actually sent an email to the ladies explaining my thoughts, and I am eagerly awaiting their reply! How do the rest of you feel about this? :biggrin1:

Sure they are allowed to have their opinion, but an uneducated opinion is what erked me in the first place! It wasn't so much that they said it, it was the way it was said, and the way that is was emphasized by both Rosie and Joy. Mindy-- I too find that I make comments to myself about people who are overweight etc even though I was once in their shoes... it just goes to show that no one is perfect! :D

I WAS TOTALLY ADDICTED TO REGULAR COKE:tired . IF SHE THINKS GIVING UP THAT WAS EASY SHE IS CRAZY. I GUESS AN EASY WAY OUT W/ WLS WOULD BE IF I COULD STILL EAT LIKE I USED TO AND WATCH THE FAT MAJICALLY MELT AWAY WHILE I STUFF ANOTHER BROWNIE IN!!:heh: WHEN THEY INVENT THAT I'LL SIGN UP FIRST!!

REALLY THOUGH, THIS IS A STRUGGLE TO CHANGE OUR ATTITUDES AND WAY OF LOOKING AT food FOR LIFE. THAT IS NOT EASY AT ALL FOR ANYONE, WHETHER THEY HAVE A LAP BAND OR NOT:phanvan .

IF I STILL DRANK 4-5 REGULAR COKE'S A DAY...HOW MUCH WOULD I HAVE LOST..........:D:) ...........NOTHING!!!! HOW IS THIS THE EASY WAY OUT? ROSIE AND THE VIEW ARE JUST STUPID AND UNEDUCATED ON THE SUBJECT OBVIOUSLY!!

JUST MY 2CENTS!!:)

Hey, no offense taken :D I am still in the process of learning and losing (still a fat gal :) )

I am learning that there are so many ways to look at things and this is a great venue for bouncing ideas off others then hearing constructive ways to look at them differently. Thanks Mindy for your candor.

I am not sure how anyone could call surgery the easy way out. I have struggled with weight my whole life, literally,, 9lb baby,,, I am tired of being the fat girl and having people look at me differently. Maybe if the sterotype that everyone should be a size 4 would go away, we would not have to stress out so bad about our weight.

It is sad that people are judged for trying to get healthy.... I don't think rosie and joy realize all the therapy and test you have to go through to even qualify for surgery. I am really dissapointed in the comments they made.
