I promise it will get better!! My dr have me a schedule to drink by- as suggestions. He wanted me drinking 4oz every four hours. Water, then crystal light, then Soup, the. Protein, then sf Jello, etc. just remember to take it slow and constantly sip on something. Pretty soon it will become a habit! Good Luck!!!

Hi I had my gastric sleeve july 18th. The first 2 days were the worst for me with the gas pains. I am doing very well now & I am 15lbs down since friday when I came home from the hospital. It may be more then that but I forgot to weigh myself before just going in & my scale & the hospital scale is off by 7lbs. At home I weighed 321lbs when I came home but at the hospital I weighed 314lbs... I am able to get in my 3 protien shakes they told me to drink but I know I do not get in as much Water & other fluids as I should. Next week I start the pureed food & was wondering what did many of you eat during that stage? I am thinking baby food may be the easiest on my belly but would love any suggestions for all of you :)

Sleeved same day. Almost identical experience. Gasx helped a great deal with gas pains. Down 15 lbs. Would also love to hear about food choices at puréed stage. A sample plan would be great. Thank you

I was sleeved July 13, I am down 18 lbs from weight day of surgery!!! I am having a hard time with getting Protein in and the 64 oz of liquid per day... I cannot drink isopure!!! Oh my it is horrible! I was told about the nectar and my it is great so far! I also drink 2 oz of muscle milk per day if I can. I can tolerate Water, ice, Popsicles, and nectar well but broths and any cream Soups cause diarrhea and I feel a bit sick to my stomach for a little while so I'm stuck in the clear liquid stage and should be in my full liquid stage.. I am not really complaining about the fact that I can't eat "drink" any foods well without hitting the John shortly after bc heck I've lost 18 lbs in less than two weeks... YAY! I'm just concerned about not being able to tolerate the actual "food" part of my meal plan...

I'll have surgery July30th, can anyone give me an idea of the pain I should expect? Preferably from someone who's a wuss about pain like I am.

Yes the gasx did help a great deal. I did the gasx right after I came home. It was one of the first things I grabbed for when I walked through the door. It was my best friend for the first few days I was home.

Alright the first 3 days are hell! Pain every time you move. Expect a pain level of 8 or 9! L

The gas pains are the worst pains I have ever had but gasx does help once you get home. Walking helps in the hospital. Olus you will have pain meds but they did not help me much with the gas pains. Everyone is different but I would definitely prepare for some bad pain for the first few days. After that it gets better each day. I have almost no pain at all now & I had it done july 18th. Best of luck & keep us updated about how everything went :) you will be fine just do lots of walking & try gasx once you go home.

I'm not sure if I'm a big wuss but I don't like pain much lol I was up and walking the day of surgery and honestly pain was no more than a 2 on a scale of 1-10 The most pain I had was on the 15 hour trip home (riding in a car) and it was just a tightness like I had been doing 100's of sit ups but I rate that pain maybe a 4 or 5 at most! Hope you fly through with minimal pain! Good luck!

I was sleeved on the 17th and had my first follow-up yesterday. I have my release to go back to work Monday the 29th. I was itching to go back, I thought, this past Monday, but even my boss wanted me to take the week to heal and come back the 29th because he did not want to pick me off the floor if I rushed it. In the end, that was probably a good idea since even taking a 20 minute walk the first couple of days this week ended with a long nap.

I am now on pureed foods and had the best Greek yogurt ever for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I might try some tuna and saltines.

The pain was never horrible, I would say never more than a 2 or 3.

I am a HUGE wuss. Actually, those are the exact words I used to my Dr at my pre op appt. I was kept nice and comfortable in the hospital. Getting up to go to the bathroom was the lot difficult thing in the hospital was getting up To go to the bathroom and walking. I was pretty dizzy at first. Once I got home I still had issues getting up. My husband had to pull me up for a few days. Also, finding a position to sleep in was tough. The first week I hurt everyday, but, on the 8th day post op relief came. I just woke up and felt better! I can't explain it. Now I am about to be 4 weeks post op and I feel great! I have more energy than I have had my whole life. I love my sleeve!

I haven't been hungry at all just eating my three meals the doc told me to eat . I maybe get 3 or 4 spoonfuls . I am not too thirsty just having a hard time remembering when I can drink after eating. Doc already has me on puréed Protein. I have gotten down 20 to 40 oz of h2o down a day since home. Today is day 5

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
