Sapphiero - take your time. Chew really well & listen to your body. Some move quickly through types of food & others stay at each level for a number of weeks. Your body will let you know when it is ready to move in. Don't be afraid, just slow & careful. You'll be fine.

I am feeling so down today. I didnt weigh myself all week hoping that by breaking myself from weighing everyday I would be happier seeing results just once a week. However the scale has not moved since last week. I am doing everything I should be doing plus walking a lot. I even walked 3 1/2 miles in an hour & 1/2 on tuesday & the scale is at a stand still. I know to expect stalls but my stall was last week. I did not want to still be in it. Sorry just venting a little. I only had surgery 3 weeks ago as of yesterday & only lost 21 lbs then gaoned back like 4 of those lbs while still on the liquid stage :( now I have been on the pureed stage for a week & nothing happened. I just want to cry :'( I thought I would have been down more then just 21 lbs by now. I can not help but feel like this surgery was a total waste. I know I will he happier if/when I see more pounds dropping off & see a difference in my inches, which have not moved much either. But for today I am depressed.

I had my sleeve and hiatal hernia repair on July 22, 2013. I feel great, other than not being able to go to the bathroom...fiber has become my friend! That's the one frustrating part. I love the fact that I am not hungry at all, I never thought I would have to remind myself to eat! Who knew!! I'm getting ready to try soft solids and am nervous as all get out. Any suggestions? :)

Cherbear, just clarifying, but you've "only" lost 21 pounds in 3 weeks!! Poor girl. Lol. You may have some unrealistic expectations. This isn't magic!!! I'm teasing you, but I think you are doing frigging amazing!! Had there been any other time you have lost that much in that amount of time? I'd have to have cut off a leg to lose 21 pounds pre-sleeve. You are doing the right things. The weight loss will catch up. If you are losing any faster, you would die in a lean winter;). I think of it like this. How much do you want to lose? If its a 100 pounds, you are already 21 percent of the way there. ALREADY!!! You rock girl. Give yourself some props!!

Thank you ElaineB! I appreciate it. Yes I am being really hard on myself today. No there is no way in the world I would have lost that 21 lbs in 3 weeks without having my surgery & I should be very proud of those pounds that are gone, you are so right! Again thank you!!!!

Not quite two weeks out from surgery. Feeling great. Not just great recovering from surgery but I also sense an improvement in my "metabolic health". My joints constantly don't ache with the arthritic type pain they had before surgery. My knees feel better and I have a bit more energy to go up and down stairs, tackle chores, etc. Alas, my weight loss is already at a stall. I am down 13 pounds since the day of surgery but have only lost one pound in the past four days.

Doh! Premature send on that last one. I have been very good about keeping my food diary. With the help of MyFitnessPal I have been tracking both my Protein grams and my calories. I have done well by each (~60g protein per day and 600-800 calories per day). I am stumped why I have stalled at dropping pounds. I have even been able to keep my fluids up (50-65oz per day). I plan to add more exercise soon. Loss of pounds alone was not my primary goal with surgery but I have been inspired to hear the tremendous losses others have reported. I wish I understood why some of us are slow losers and others are quick.

OMG I am sooo glad Im not the only one who is dealing with the "no bathroom issue". Just started taking citracal yesterday. Hopefully it will start to work.

Soft foods...scrambled eggs, mashed pototoes, refried Beans, yogurt, and sugar free fat free pudding with unjury unflavored Protein powder have all been very close friends of mine lately ;)

My goal is a 70lb wt loss and I'm down 7....looking forward to the other 63 to fall off;)

Way to go. Protein will help with all the noises!

I had my sleeve July 29' date=' 2013. So I'm only in my second week post-op. I'm really struggling. I feel hungry nearly all the time, which is not at all what I thought I would feel. Help! What's your secret words of wisdom??[/quote']

I was sleeved the same day. Make sure you always have some liquids by your side. broth is great, Tomato Soup and Protein drinks help fill me up. Also it may not be hunger. Could be stomach/ intestine acids. An antacid with Calcium might be a good idea even if you are not having heartburn.

I was sleeved on July 29th. I'm really struggling' date=' I feel hungry all the time. My typical day is a broken down into 6 x 1/2 cup of smoothies or pureed Soups. With cups of tea in between. I'm not having any Protein. My doc never mentioned...perhaps this is why I'm so hungry? I also have an odd pain in the middle of my chest almost like an air bubble coming up or something? Anyone else? I'm so glad I've joined this forum and really looking forward to helpful hints![/quote']

Protein is essential and you should be getting in 60-80 grams a day. There is clear juice type protein drinks like Isopure if you aren't sure about the more frothy milkshake type ones. I was sleeved on the 29th as well and I use Syntrax nectar in chocolate. I can't believe your doctor never mentioned protein!!! It's essential to maintain muscle and your hair!!! I hope you feel better. Private message me with any questions!

I feel ya!!! It will be 4 weeks tomorrow since day of surgery I've only lost 23 lbs!!! I was hopeful I would loose faster since the Dr had told me the more you have to loose the faster you would loose (I need to loose 150 plus) unfortunately that isn't happening bc I lost the 23 lbs the first 2 1/2 weeks and I've not lost anymore since!!! I'm extremely worried that I'm going to be the one that don't loose or something! The thing I really do not understand is the fact that I can barely eat 2-2 1/2 oz at a meal, why would I not loose weight when I barely eat!! I DO NOT cheat ever!! Soups that are super low to zero carbs, egg whites, muscle milk light.. I can't even drink but around 3 oz at a time of the muscle milk or water! I am more worried than anything!!!!

I hope I start loosing again soon!

Don't be depressed! it's just numbers and focus on the positive and deep down u know the surgery was not a waste!!! if I was to get a stall I would go back to high Protein liquids and hopefully that will jump start it again.... well that's my plan..... you can do this!!!!! get mad not sad ..... take it out on a walk or a punching bag!!!!! *;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
